This morning ( my own stupid fault ) I got pulled by the police for speeding.
I was doing aroung 65 in a 40 outside lane(I know and I won't do it again) on a 3 lane dual carriage way.
Sitting in traffic was a police van which I did not spot at all (should of been paying more attention to the road, but might have been checking my mirrors while riding past).
Anyways he pulled me over and gave me the usual scrape people up story which thankfully I have only heard twice now in my 9 years riding.
I was totally honest with him and agreed I was speeding so got let off a ticket. As he was writing out a producer for me he got a call for another job so I didn't rec that either!
I got lucky today and have taken the warning. It's my own stupid fault for speeding anyway but has anyone else got away with a ticket/fine before?

was well over 90 in a 30 with miles of visability in front of me at 4:30 one summer morning, as I passed a side road I notice plod parked up. out he came, blue lights came on and I stopped.
He hadn't a clue as to my speed apart from "fast". He acknowledged I was a risk to nobody but myself, but I got a "Think On" type warning and sent on my way.
Lucky
We were only talking about this in the pub last night.
I consider myself very fortunate when it comes to 'getting away with it'
I wont go into specifics here but I got three points for excessive speed on a motorway. It was the stuff I was doing before I got on the motorway that would have got me banned. I got let off with that stuff. Excessive speed was an understatement.
More traffic light antics. Let's just say the first thing I saw when I could see behind me in my mirrors again were blue flashing lights. I got a ticking off.
And there is also going home from work up the motorway. The throttle was err stuck wide open. All I got was a ticking off again and a comment about how nice my race exhaust sounded as I went passed.

LOL I have always thought of saying erm my glove got jammed in the throttle one but don't have a straight enough face!.
Pritty lucky with the antics there then!

I got caught doing just over 50 in a 40 limit on the back wheel, only got three speeding points rather than dangerous driving.

I was once doing 60 in a 30 in my old mini. I was racing a Ford Ka with some tasty looking girls in :) They were doing the same speed but I got pulled cos I had a loud exhaust.
The Policeman pulled me over and did the usual 'do you know why I pulled you over??'
'Yes' I replied
'And whats the speed limit on this road?'
'30'
'And what speed were you doing?'
I thought to myself if I lie im going to get caught out and he's guna be angry and throw the book at me so I said '55-60?'
The fella looked at me and said 'Oh, well I only clocked you at 40'
:) :) :)
He gave me a producer. I was in my probationary period also so was scared of losing my licence.
my narrowest squeak was on way back from yeovil on a303, was doing 78 in a 50, mr plod did his lovely trick of pulling off the dual carriageway then coming back on behind me.
pulled me over, invited me into his car. i was hoping to see pic of my on vid!! but no, just got a digital read out. he did as mentioned above gave it the i've seen many bad thing etc etc but he complimented me on my observation (ironic!) mirror and shoulder checks and told me to go on my way carefully.
he wasnt patronising in any way, told me straight that if a camera gets me there's no warning, and another 2 mph quicker and i'd have been looking at a potential ban for being 30mph over speed limit
Looking back on it I've been lucky every time I've ridden my bike. In 30 years I've been nicked 5 times for speeding, and once for jumping a red light when I could see the other side was clear.
We were discussing this on a newsgroup only yesterday, and a mate of mine reckons that on any normal day when I was filtering through traffic on the M1, M25 and M4 on my way to work in Slough a few years back, I commited enough offences within 2 miles to have me banged up in jail for dangerous driving. Dangerous in the eyes of the law maybe, but I thought it was perfectly acceptable riding.
Since then I've had a mild stroke and my riding has reined in a fair bit, but I still do things that would make a copper jump for his blue-light and siren switches - things I think are fine, like overtaking on double white lines and 120mph+ on dual carriageways/motorways when it's clear and safe to do so.

I love it when the plod pull off the motorway then get back on behind you! I just follow them. Winds them right up. Try it you'll be laughing for miles

Not had any close shaves like this as of yet (touch wood)
Had a funny one though. Got pulled in London a couple of monts ago on a road test in London.
We were riding round in circles outside Parliament getting photos when plod pulled us over. Asked us what we were doing and when we told them we were doing a road test they filled out some forms for us under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
We're officially not terrorists!

GSX1400 , 40 restricted well known country road , lots of speed (wobbly speed, made worse by headlight attatched to the bars! Must look all over the road to oncoming folks.......and this plod.) So see the oncoming big BMW taking a right turn ahead of me and stopping after he makes the turn and I see his passenger looking out at me, so I stamp on the back brake, straighten back, kicked into top and passed the growling ***** at 60mph looking like I was cruising on my imaginary"BMW". Seemed to work.Cue miles of paranoid, looking in the mirrors without moving my head, go fast / go slow, tail between the legs riding. Actually getting busted and being lucky? Older and slower I get the luckier I am. :)

Teehee :D Is that the feds new anti terrorism strategy, ask people to fill in a form and arrest the ones that tick "Yes!" next to the "Are you a terrorist?" question?

Got pulled over last month with my Bro in Reigate. I think we were doing 35 max, but not really going for it because-
a it was well dark
b it was well cold and the floor's wet
c the roads are well twisty and corners.junctions badly lit in that neck of Surrey
Anyway, this officer pulls us over and says we were speeding and slowed down past the police station. He also said he was driving right behind my bro as he likes to get a good look at the licence plate number, but he couldn't book us as he was on his own and the and admitted as much- as well as the car not being calibrated.
While he was generally reasonable and non condescending (something I hate), there is no excuse for tailgating anyone in such a way- as a driver he should be able to see a licence plate from 20m (though less I suppose at night, but still with decent braking distance) and if we did have to stop quickly, the resulting accident would have been purely his fault.
So- not so much as a copper as a bit of a c**k really.
Been pulled before in a car and just given a ticking off and an officer being generally reasonable. But been caught by cameras twice now- first time speed awareness, last time 3 points and licence. I guess you just can't reason with a machine...!
Had a close shave on the way to work a good few years ago, travelling down a dual carriageway at around a ton in a car, looked to my right to see a plod in a cavalier turbo sitting in the fastlane looking at me. Luckily he just waved his hand in a slow down manner and then sped off.

Have had a couple of close ones the worst was when i was pulled after i was speeding in a 30, jumped a red light, more speeding in a 30 then another red light and then speeding in a 50 and when i say say speeding i'm talikng 3 figures in the 50 limit. He let me go after a stern telling off, not even a producer!

I stick to all the speed limits +/- 2 mph at all times.

On the M56 at about 10:30pm ish doing erm more than excessive speed, unmarked police car behind me, I pull into middle lane to pull into the left lane and the cop car zooms off, lucky is not the word!
I hope that the situation that the officer/s was going to was not too bad.

Where I live, "lucky" is if you don't get caught.
If you see blue lights ...you will not be getting off with a warning.
If you run (or refuse to pull over) the plods can legally use whatever means to stop you.
Including shooting, killing or crashing you.
Fortunately they rarely patrol the country/mountain roads that are best suited for motocycle riding.

On the flip side. I got three points for exceeding the speed limit in a 30 Zone.
I never speed through the village which it is the only 30 zone through the entire stretch of road. It has speed cameras at either end. I make sure I am doing 30 approaching the camera and stay at that speed all the way through. When I am past the last junction I speed up again. One time going through the village a mobile unit had set up smack bang between the two camera's. Both camera's are visible from this point. That is how small the village is.
They clocked me at 40. The must have clocked me between the last junction and the end of the restriction sign. What a cheap trick to play. :( I was already clear of any hazards, so nicked me on a technicality.

Been lucky loads of times to be honest, I seem to have a 6th sense and slow down just at the right time.
Been pulled over for having no front number plate a couple of times but always just given a warning probably because I'm polite and have a joke with them. Not be pulled for speeding or other naughtyness yet!

pulled at well over a ton, and got off with 90 3 points and a fine.
have also been pulled at 70... copper didnt like the fact i could out accelarate him on the dual carriageway leading on to the motorway where i was stopped.
said he heard me "winding it on" half a mile away. (really that is the standard exhaust officer) and although he stated at the beginning of the conversation he didnt have anything on me, knew i was speeding as he had to do 90 to catch me up... (refer to previous statement about being half a mile away)
nice one plod!
was also pulled outside leyburn by friendly chap in a landy. who advised that cans were too loud and plate too small. but as he was a biker, and as i was only up there for a week, he gave me piece of paper to show to other plods to say i had been spoken too. class!

After the AR06, I got stopped by the police about 50 metres from my house for speeding, 41 in a 30. I think the fact that I was local and was in a safe spot (it's a built up area but that bit has no openings, driveways, garden gates etc so no surprises) got me off. I couldn't think of anything brilliant to say so I just told the truth, I'd been on the motorway since Shrewsbury and my sense of speed was off- I actually had no idea I was speeding. Terrible excuse but he probably realised it was genuine.
What I didn't tell him was that I'd averaged 100 up the M6, with my tent and luggage on the back
