I've used similar in the Science musem in Manchester. I think it managed to get to 4mph. It was probably solar powered or something. Solar power, in Manchester.

I was hoping it was some sort of radio controlled helicopter....

We have one at work, I think its rubbish.

It claims to dry faster than a conventional hand dryer - but the conventional unit next to the airblade is way better.

Yeah i've used one a few times, they're fantastic things, always wondered what it would be like to try drying your dangly bits in one.

Am, you do move your hands up and down dont you? I sttod there with my hands in one the otehr day thinking this is rubbish, then i realised you move your hands up and down in the airstream! I thought they are far better than my fav hand drier of choice, the Warner Howard.

They're ok, I prefer the std warm ones though with the big chrome round thing so I can dry my socks after riding to work (and my hair). My skin felt like it was coming off in those blade things!

To be honest they get a bit old - especially when they blow water up your arm as you put your hands in.

We have one in our office right next to the urinals. If anyone was using the one next to the airblade when it was turned on they found that their pee went darting off in the other direction! It only took 3 days for the company to put up a screen between the two as there were several 'aiming' issues that people encountered.

They have brilliant hand-driers in Heathrow airport - I think they're called Excellerator's or something. This Dyson thing sounds similar. Dries your hands in about 3 seconds flat!

We've got both here at work. The Excellerators would be appropriate for Heathrow as they sound like a jet taking off. The Airblade is much quieter.

They've been knocking about for ages at the local shopping center.

If you rub the back of your hands against the yellow blade thingy it makes really loud squeeking noise. Doesn't please other toilet users.

just a quick thought - the airblade is brilliant except the heat kicks in just as the fans stop blowing. If the air heated up a bit quicker then I reckon it would work amazingly well instead of just really well. Then again, "400mph" is going to be enough to stop any heating unit from getting to temperature quickly

James Dyson is a clever man and makes some superb gadgets and the Airblade is one of them. I want to know when the dual cyclone turbo thing is meant to arrive with no moving parts (apparently). Then again it was suggested when i was in electrical sales many years ago when the DC01 came out so probably wont ever happen..................... Shame as it sounded good.
