yeah im fine thanks law, broken thumb but bloody lucky i think.

Front end slid out going round a corner, Baron kicked me off the left and went into the front of a mazda. Nobody hurt thankfully. Total write off tho :-(

Bit of gaffer tape and a couple of cable ties... sorted. But it's pointy, so best to let it die with dignity.

Glad you're not too badly hurt, might be a pain in the wallet next insurance time though :-(

Sorry to hear about this, you are very lucky to escape with just a broken thumb Rai. At least your bike is covered under the insurance and hope it gets sorted quickly so you can get back out there. GWS, Foxy

Bikes can be replaced or fixed relatively easily.

Its not always the same for our fragile bones & bodies, so I'm glad you only suffered from a broken thumb, bumps and bruises, nothing worse.:smt059

Whoa!! These things do happen - true - but why did the front wash out? Any broken bone is major, this is a very serious accident, you could have been KSI - TG you weren't - I think I'd be wanting to know what went so disastrously wrong before I hopped on another bike.

Are there lessons for us all to learn here?

Rai86
27-12-08, 04:21 PM
yes it could have been much worse but im not going to sit here psyching myself out about it-whats the point of that, would only serve to put me off biking.

what happened is simple, cold tyres+ bend+ greasy roads+mazda on the line = front end sliding out and the bike hittin the car

take it as a learning curve, nothing more i can do

Wideboy

whats next then another sv?

Law
27-12-08, 05:33 PM
Nah, why another SV? She should get what's in her avatar.

Edit: Assuming that's a new GSX-R600. Haven't seen that colour scheme before.

Bloody hell, that looks nasty! Very glad to hear you are mostly unhurt. The roads are very greasy at the mo (not that I need to tell you that!) so take it easy guys and girls. Hope your insurance get things sorted quickly for you Rai

darylB
28-12-08, 09:54 PM
Looking at the bike i'd say you got off lightly, glad to hear a broken thumb is the worst injury, biking is a large learning curve and this is just a hiccup along the way.

daryl.

zsv650
28-12-08, 10:46 PM
bloody hell rai that look's a mess like the other's are saying you seem to have gotten off lightly with just the thumb glad to hear your alright though when the front goes not much you can do about it.

kwak zzr
28-12-08, 11:20 PM
considering dropping an sv at 30 can write it off i think you can safely say the baron is dead, what did the car look like?

Lifeboat Mike
28-12-08, 11:23 PM
Yer! and where was your thumb?

Rai86
28-12-08, 11:27 PM
The car is written off too. Baron took out the front driver side. Glad he is ok. Think he was going a bit fast, he narrowly missed my mate who was in front

Thumb is black thanks mike.....plus it hurts to type so i hope your all appreciating this post lol

Broken thumbs hurt, I did mine last year. Shame about your bike though, looks like you did well to come out of it ok.

29-12-08, 10:04 AM
Only just seen this.......so glad to hear your OK, I broke my thumb in February too, can be quite painful. Make sure you take it steady, cause if it is the scaphoid and it doesn't heal right can be nasty. Hope the insurance goes smoothly and you get back riding soon.
