Following a chin wag with Kwak in another post and seeing the downpipe polishing fest going on, just wandered what peoples OCD's are???

Mine - I think everything has its place and love tidying stuff up.....all needs to look correct.

My OCD is Star Wars , I can spot a SW logo from half a mile away and will scurry over to see what it is , I can`t go past a car boot sale without sensing a disturbance in the force ... a feeling I haven`t felt since ........ <----- Spins around and walks off in a hurry

Wallet has to be in left pocket, phone in right one.

Radio/tv volume has to be an even number.

Aye I have set pockets for stuff ... keys + garage remote in LHS, phone + lighter in LHS ... wallet in RHS back pocket.

Any other way around and it feels like I've lost something...

Same here exactly, although I never considered it to be ocd.

If I have an ocd it's lining things up by eye. Basically the edge of an object to the edge of something behind, (the list of opportunities is endless) usually with one eye closed, looking like a complete moron.

Snap!

Except Wallet in right pocket and Phone in Left pocket.

Also have to have everything arranged in right angles.

Volume in even numbers is kerri's OCD as well as curtain being closed completely and no gaps, making sure all plug sockets and taps are off and that meat is absolutely cooked throughout to the point that it is almost charcoal and then it is still negotiable.

Blimey, where do I start, I do suffer with this (in a not serious way :D )

My worse has to be my desk, everything has it's place and if my collegue so much as moves a paper clip, I know about it and have a good moan! Bless her, first thing she does now in the morning is tell me what she borrowed when I'd left the night before!! So that I can put it back in the right place.

I daren't say in a public forum or I'll have the yellow van waiting for me next time I leave the house, but I'll say they start with a sock drawer that has everything folded exactly the same way, and in perfectly straight rows, and ends with cans on the kitchen shelves all in spaced evenly in order with the labels turned so I can read them. My old housemates said it went beyond OCD and was verging on autism.

My old housemates said it went beyond OCD and was verging on autism.

You sure they got that right?

OCD perhaps has implications for social interaction (people thinking you're strange), and it could well be classed as a 'mental disorder.'

But I wouldn't say OCD has anything to do with either physical motor skills, nor communication/perception.

Mine? Is that I'm a geek, and can be very very pedantic.

I have both OCD and tourettes- more OCD now. It's been particularly bad recently, been spending about 1 - 2 hours a day doing OCD stuff, it takes me about 5 minutes to go to the toilet and 10 minutes to go to bed. Ridiculous.

What a can of worms!!!!!

Mine's pay slips (another one!), I've nearly 17 years worth for my current job and only recently shredded 8 years worth from previous job.

Lou M
29-12-08, 10:50 PM
Always keep your payslips!!! I have every single one of mine from day one that I started work, back in 1980something!
Whilst doing my accountancy training I heard a story about a chap who had retired, but the Tax office had no record of him, the only way he could prove what he had paid was by showing them every pay slip he'd ever had. Scary but true I'm afraid, and they didn't accept the P60's.

I have so many, I can't list them. The more tired I am the worse it gets. Can't walk on cracks, can't deal with odd numbers, everything has it's place else I go nuts, things have to be lined up and things have to be symmetrical. I can't get very angry/frustrated if things aren't "the way they should be" and I can't settle till it's sorted! Get's on my t1ts sometimes!!!

Lou M
29-12-08, 11:16 PM
Underwear must match.

I'm the opposite, I can't bear to have mine matching, don't ask me why but they just have to be different. I feel odd all day if they match.

Final drive chains. I loath seeing poorly maintained final drive chains. I now carry WD40 and chain lubericant in my topbox, and I am very tempted to go about lubricating all the disgusting chains of the shiny GSXR's etc that I see at box hill. I can't stand an un-lubricated chain. I was behind a guy who was on a really nice and shiny GSXR on saturday in kingston; but his chain was in such a poor state that I thought it was going to jump off the sprocket - couldn't keep up with him to tell him his chain looked unsafe. If you can spend an hour cleaning your bike, spend another 20 minutes putting a squirt of wurth on!!!

I have 2:

I fold the packages from fast food and arrange it neatly on the tray - it takes up far less space.
I arrange books neatly on my office shelves, my wife once caught me arranging the books on the shelf in a bookstore - I didnt even notice that I was doing it!

More than I care to mention.Ocd has blighted my life and caused me nothing but pain. For yrs all my mates used to call me "Off Off".Due to me sitting in the livingroom all night ,peeping a look at the cooker and shouting "off off off off ,to make sure the rings where of.
Id go out ,only to come home to check ,the fire ,taps ,lights cat ,dog etc.
Everything has a place, hate STUFF ,hanging about .
Used to count every penny spent (I mean everypenny) and kept every receipt since I was 16.Four suitcases of the damn things. It even cost me 2 long term relationships.
I could go on all night but there is no need....Why?

I had a massive head injury a few yrs ago ,that led to a stroke....result ..no more OCD.

Ok ..a tiny bit ,but life is now good
