When i first started learning i was using the bike shop gear, and summer gloves with cat boots... all i can say is i absolutely sympathise, and British winters suck :p

Considering you're only 20 miles from me i'm surprised you went anywhere, i couldn't see any more than 40 yards all day. Guess you got away with it!

I picked up the DRZ today, fingers were fine in my new Heine Gerieke gloves, but my thumbs were numb!

Bike was filthy when I got home, and as I was drying it off the water started to freeze!
Poor chap is having to live outside too.:(

I had an ice issue this morning, running 30mins late for work... key in and its solid GRRR

in I run, grab the kettle, pour it over lock (and seat mmm warm seat) in i run again, lock up again... get back to bike... Grr left the lights in the house on... In and out the house I run again!

SO its the end of my 12hr shift.... what is the betting that all that lovely water is frozen in my lock?

I have a good excuse not to ride my bike..... the front end is knacked, so it's stuck in the shed for the forseeable future

Ed

-6C here too, so bike stayed in the garage. I don't see any point in risking black ice and a mashed bike.

No way I'll go out in most things, but black ice!! its gonna end in tears!

We've had snow since Friday, Last night we appear to have had a new delivery. Its still coming down. Very fine snow but on top of what we had. Its unlikely to thaw when temp is hovering between +1 and -3. Tomorrow's first day back at work since new year, so will make an interesting journey.

Was lethal last night (well early this morning)! My car slid round a bend on black ice, nearly hitting the curb on the opposite side of the road... was quite unnerving to say the least. I was just glad I wasn't on my bike

Nothing wrong with a bit of cold IMO.

I had trouble getting the bike to the road the other day (ice between our car & the neighbours van made it quite "fun"). Other than that, I've been surprised how LITTLE ice there has been around.

I'll be setting off to work in about half an hr, and coming home at 11pm. I'll have to scrape the ice from the bike before I come home, other than that, it's a normal ride.

Drew and Girth have been working on the bikes since 11am...... they came inside for a warm lunch and also keep asking for cups of tea, to warm them up.

They are doing drew's 16k service and fitting a scotoiler to girth's bike, they did question if it was a good idea this morning before they went out, but put on loads of layers and out they went!

Me i'm sat in the warm lounge!!!!!

(Love riding in snow - ice I'm no fan of, doesn't put me off, just don't really like the stuff).

Bah.....
I ride in the winter..... but personally I'm a fan of green leaves, blue skies and warm temps.
I love riding in the warm sun.
You can have the snow...Christmas is over I'm ready for spring!

Tomorrow is going to be colder than today down my neck of the woods, according to the met office website! :(

Think I'll take the cage!
