I'd wonder why you're getting moisture on the inside of the car. You store things inside it?

naa, the only moisture is frosty/snowy shoes.

Moisture by the looks of it.
We get it on ours too. But ours has a leaky roof (which is partly why we've been out looking at new ones today). So I'm guessing water gets in that way for us.
I get this if I leave the vents open. I have to slide the control thing across to "re-circulate" air to solve the problem.

Heated front windscreen :). Ford might not produce the best cars in the world but it's a briliant idea. Screens frost free and de-misted by the time you've cleared the side windows.

it all seems dry? and my re-circulate is a button not a slide so dunno if it would work when ignition is switched off.

Set to re-circulate before you turn off the ignition, then when the ignition is off, the vents will already be set. :)

Maybe Ford have a patent on it 'cause the only other cars I've seen them on are Jags & Land Rovers (used to be owned by Ford)

s'right, Ford do have the patent on the heated windscreens. great move by them but makes the rest of us freeze our nuts off.

Might seem a daft question but do you have the aircon on? If I use mine it causes condensation on the inside after it's been parked a while.

thats what i hate about fords, im jealous of their heated front window. Just glad i have a garage i can leave it in so no frost for me and my veedub

What sir needs is a 1996 Ford Maverick. It doesn't have a heated screen, but the inside of the screen doesn't freeze anyway. A bucket of mildly warm water thrown over the screen is enough to de-ice it in the mornings.

i do that in the mornings but the inside stays frozen.

Definately moisture in the car. If you can get hold of a whole load of those Scilica Gel packets you get inside shoe boxes put them inside your car and they will soak up the moisture and stop it freezing.
Alternatively a load of salt will do the same trick.

On auto the climate control sticks the aircon on whatever the weather, have to manually switch if off

will look but tis off anyhow, takes about 3 miles for the heaters to get hot but then they are very hot.
I had this problem this morning... so I got the deicer on the inside.. smelled good, but took bloody ages to get the smearing to clear.....
Not recommended...

Do what my geeky neighbour does and use a hairdryer on the windows. Honest, he does! He was even washing it yesterday wearing shorts and a teeshirt! The water was freezing as he did it!

Put a blanket over the windscreen. Shut the corners in the top of the front doors and under the front wipers to stop it blowing away during the night. Tried it last night.. no frost at all on the windscreen this morning :) Although the blanket was frozen on the outside

I get the same problem on the 98 Ka I use for the station, i'm guessing the car is not very well sealed so lets moisture in which freezes. No aircon to de-mist, freezes up as I drive! Have a little squidgy to clear the inside every 5 minutes

i get this on my focus, it produces a very pretty triangular pattern too
i find it's worse if i make short trips, i think the moisture is coming from simply breathing out in the car
if it's bad a solution is to wait for a cool but not cold night and traipse an electric fan heater out to the car, leave the windows cracked by an inch or so and let the fan run for a couple of hours, insode of the car heats up, moisture evaporates and exits the car through the cracked windows
do you reckon theres some kind of anti-freeze spray that doesn't smeer that you can spray on and be protected for a week or so? just a thought

I think the moisture comes off the condenser in the aircon/climate control thingumy. Please feel free to proove me wrong, but we get the same problem on my car and I can prevent it by turning the climate control off a few minutes before parking up for the night.

Sounds like a good idea. I've had this problem with every car I've owned. It does my head in when there's more ice inside the windscreen than outside.
If I had a drive I'd have an electric fan heater left on every night inside the car in the winter. As it is, I light a fag and listen to the radio for an extra 5 minutes till the screen's clear

Yep - this is the cause and Pete's solution will help. My current car (Mazda 6) has fully auto a/c & CC and it's far worse at steaaming up first thing in the morning than other cars I've had which haven't had CC.
Turn the a/c part of the CC off (if you can do this on your car) when first starting the car in the mornings.

i turned it off last night and the re circulation button but they wasnt activated this morning when i got in the car? i'll try turning off later a few miles before turning the car off.

Really bizarre - I was always under the impression that aircon dryed the air out? I know the "demist the windscreen really quick" button on the audi just turns the aircon on and directs a force 9 gale through the windscreen vents.
I still find myself holding my breath at traffic lights or breathing "downwards" to prevent visor misting whilst sat in the car :D

It does, but it requires the condenser to be cold before it can work. It will not be cold (relative to ambient air temp) when you first start the car.
