View Full Version : Honda C90
Been looking at these on Ebay for the past month now and the going rate for the cheapest seem to be about £400. Ive had cheaper cars offered. Not so cheap anymore are they? The "projects" even seem to be around the £300 mark which means the runner is potentially cheaper.
Just thought that one would make a great project to get running. I thought that they would be the cheapest thing to project on but im not so sure now....

yes tiz funny, we've joked many a time about how much they really are. But then again they have an odd cult status, i mean which other bike could you chuck off a cliff and it'll still start, the only thing that stops em starting is being run over by a tank! You can big bore them too
I wouldnt modify it, would probably mess up the reliability. Heard the C70 has a faster cam and bigger valves making it slightly quicker? Then again C90s arent there for going fast. I was expecting around £250 to be the going rate for a runner but when I saw £400 it shocked me!

what you got to remember is it will be cheaper than a car seeing as 2 tyres will be cheaper than 4, £15 a year tax and you will get £300 back in an investment. Car goes bang it's scrap but bike just goes to project.
Ugh. C90.
I rode one of those back in my pizza delivery days. Crashed it within minutes. Never touched one again. Hateful things.
The C50 is the biggest selling motorbike EVER! The 90 is a close second

They hold a good value because they are a great bike, very reliable and easy/cheap to run/service.

I'd feel so vulnerable on that. Suppose it's the cheapest way to travel besides walking but I'd be resigned to the fact that it would eventually kill me one way or another. Drum brake on the front? If someone pulled out in front of you the other side would have a good case for contributory negligence just becuse of what you were riding!!
A couple of hundred quid more could get you a nice little Honda CB-1.
Dave: what's an SV800s?
The drum brake's just rubbish. It's the gear change that had me off. Three gears, heel and toe, no clutch, iirc. First time I tried to change down I was off.

Just sold a non runner for £300 on eBay, was stolen before it was picked up :( A 1975 one with MOT and 400 genuine miles sold for just £500 recently though.

I di pizza delivery for Dominos in Norwich in the early 90s, we had nothing but C90s and it was great fun

I did it on a Honda Vision 50 that I used to crash on a regular basis, usually thanks to the centrestand prong digging in when I cranked it over too far.
Probably the most fun I've ever had in a job. Shame about the money.

I did one up a few months back (didn't cost me owt, just cleaned the carbs etc got it a nice runner) Someone drove 9 hours to pick it up and paid £700! Barmy
Some useful things to do with a C90 (ex pizza delivery of course).

But they look rubbish, don't go fast or handle well.
Maybe as a 16 year old with no other choice I may have thought they were 'cool' but certainly not now.
It's like remembering how something was cool back in the day, the reality is not so cool anymore.
Humbug! :-D
A 16 year old couldn't ride a C90.

Not on the road, funny as feck off road. Had as much fun on stuff like that as I did on the proper bikes. (had a couple of different CR's about that time)
Chris, where else would you be able to search? There aint much in the way of local ads anymore

Just keep your ears open locally. Last few bikes I've bought have come from random people in the pub.
