do you mean the suzuki TL 1000 lump? the fact it's being pushed? the forks aren't standard ducati kit, or something else ?
What's wrong is that I'm not in the picture. I'd like a reliable Ducati and this is as close as it gets, even if it's being pushed.
oh i get it tl lump he's ran out of tick's(tl owners will know what i mean)

I suppose it'd be harder if it didn't have Suzuki written on the engine :) I've been watching this build for a while on Oldskoolsuzuki, I really want one now. Though I wouldn't pay for the RAC50s, that's for sure! The engine just looks like it was made to fit in that frame.
I'll fight you for it Northy :)

I very nearly got a TL powered 748 when I got the SV, but as I hadn't done the conversion myself would have had to strip it all just to put my mind at rest.

Did you see that Cagiva Mito/Yamaha RD (I think) crossbreed that was in one of the magazines, probably streetfighters, a couple of months ago? He named it a Yagiva, which was fine till he chose a font that made the Y look a bit like a V, and the v look a bit like an n...

Maybe just the forks, they're marzocchi aftermarket in custom yokes I think so they might just change the position, it does look tail-up doesn't it.I can't remember the weights of the engines but I don't think there's an awful lot in it between the 916 and TL motors.

Plus the bottom of the engine is pointing forwards ........................ just had a thought actually and here comes the scientific bit .
He is pushing the bike forwards ok , bear with me here , the photographer has his finger on the button , still with me ? and takes the picture just as the guy stops the bike and puts the front brake on , causing the forks to compress :D

Nah, I reckon he's probably just tweaked the chassis a wee bit, lots of people raise the rear on the dukes as they're a wee bit slow turning... It's got about the same stance as my SV, using the advanced science of Guesswork ;)

Aaaah the good old "5mm dropped in the forks" rule of thumb ?
All 748s and 916s have adjustable head stock angle, so why would anyone feel the need to raise the rear of the bike to acheive the same effect?

Because raising the rear doesn't just change the head angle, and because changing the head angle at the headstock doesn't just affect the fork angle, of course. The 2 do different things (and also the same thing)

I thought you were trying to say that raising the rear didn't change the fork angle, I was wrong.
So why would he want to muck about with the geometry of what is widely reknowned for being one of the best handling bikes ever built, is the guy some kind of suspension guru who knows better than the Ducati race suspension technicians? Or is he just trying to acheive that p1ss-poor tail up in the air streetfighter look without cutting the subframe about.
For what it's worth, I don't like what he's done one little bit. I like the Ducati engine, I like the Ducati handling, I like the Ducati suspension and I love the Ducati look... in short, I like everything he's destroyed.

Hmmm. I don't see the fuss about ducs at all. Nice build, but if you want a trellis framed TL with normal suspension then go buy a cagiva raptor.
The cagiva mito-powervalve conversions are lurvely. I have a cagiva planet in the garage, it is possible a CR500 motor may fall into it when I am not concentrating one day... (perhaps slightly detuned :shock:)

Yes 04 SV motor, as per the thread. Once again why not use the TLR motor? Does airbox not fit or something? Why take out a pretty revvy motor and fit a detuned one?

Ah, I was wondering where you were coming from, I couldn't put what the two of us were saying together, and I knew I was right, and I also knew you know what you're talking about too so I couldn't fathom why we'd disagree :mrgreen:
The 748's a lovely handling bike but I found it a bit slow/stable for my tastes, it's beautiful midcorner vut it could change direction faster... It felt to me a little bit like it had been tamed/slackened for the road. I guess he might be the same. Don't know a lot about these ducatis but don;'t they have adjustable rear ride height as standard? (well, other than the eccentric wheel hub)
Equally, I guess it's possible that those lovely forks he bought are a bit too short. or, maybe just as likely, maybe he's just an idiot :smt115 Who knows? I wouldn't say it's got tail-up streetfighter looks though, and no doubt if he'd wanted that he could easily have done it, it's not like it's hard to do.

And he would have done that before those pipes were fitted, as they'd look daft with a germanic style tail unit stuck 2 foot above them..
How much are them forks worth then? What are they normally fitted to?

That's what it looks like to me. If not, those look like rather short forks.
