Supermarkets often have plastic bag recycling points, keep your eyes peeled.

As to whether they actually are recycled or just landfilled by the supermarket, who cares? Recycling is about maknig yourself feel better, not saving the world!

I re-use mine for shopping and when they're too knackered for that they get used as bin liners. Try not to collect any new ones when you shop. My local Tescos used to have a re-cycling point for bags but I haven't noticed it lately.

chuck them away in a field or something, or maybe a wooded area. they'll be gone in the next, ooo, 200 years. at a guess. so not your problem anymore.

i hope my post was helpful. altho you can bet that as soon as you saw a reply from "keithd" you thought "whats the point reading this..."

Sainsburys have recycling points where you can return your carrier bags, Do you know what they do with them? they take em round the back and chuck em in the skip. True! the wife works for them! what a load of PC BS! whats the point?

Fields are great for putting your rubbish in... old sofas and stuff.

Tesco/Asda normally have a bag recycling collection point...

Thats the right thing to do.If everyone did this we would cut the demand for new plastic bags by a massive amount.

We have a box for carriers that is there is we need them for carrying/waste bin bags, if we get too many then we stick them in the recycling bag that the men come to collect, everything goes in there, cardboard, tin cans etc.

Suggest you don't use them in the first place. So many shop assistants ask 'would you like a bag' and then they give you an environmental disaster because people can't be arsed to bring a bag with, or to stuff the item in a pocket - or even just to carry it along the street. Just say 'no'.

And then people expect to park right outside the shop and complain if they get a ticket:rolleyes: - local rag here always has letters moaning about the wardens, 'I only popped into the shop for 10 mins' - well you shouldn't have parked on double yellow lines then, should you:rolleyes:

Do not try and inflate them, attach them to pieces of string and hand write Happy Anniversary on them.

Or put clear ones over your head, tie them at the neck and pretend you're an astronaut.

Or maroon yourself on a Desert Island and try to use them as currency with the local vicious Monkey population to buy Coconuts.

Or eat them when times get desperate. Times are never that desperate.

My mom puts them all in a drawer, in a few years we will have enough to build another kitchen just out of bags.
