View Full Version : Rear Brake Pedal Needed - Err, cos of a crash!

Hi,

A couple of days ago I was walking my bike out of my drive which is on a slight angle and I slid over with the bike. It was so incredibly slow, I thought everything was ok, but then I looked at the floor and the bloody rear brake pedal and (where your foot rests) had sheered off. There are a few minor scrapes on the fairing but I can live with that.

I can't live without a brake pedal though!

It's a fully faired 2000 SV and I'd like to get a new pedal myself, but I can't for the life of me find one on the internet and I hate Fowlers (in Bristol).

Can someone here give me a hand and point one out to me?

I'm relegated to the bus now. Grr.

Are you saying that both the leaver and foot peg have broken or is it just the leaver?

If the leaver has enough lenght on it you could always just drill it and wack a bolt through it as a temporary measure. I'm sure some one which a knowledge of part numbers will be along shortly. Good luck!

Good point, it's just the peg on the end that's sheered off. I want the bike to be safe, but yes you're right, I could do that... That's like the A Team solution!

My gear shifter is drilled through and got a bolt and a nut holding it together..

Try that if you can...

I've used levers with nuts and bolts in the end for 1000s of miles. When you drop it again just drill another hole and move the bolt back a bit. Works fine.

i've got one of these on mine. http://shop.wemoto.com/pictures.dyn?u=1915477qqq5827984 pricey, but cheaper than an oem one and the peg bit folds in and shouldn't break so easily in the event of another drop, but i've not yet tried it thankfully!

get your slef one of these, a lot nicer than just a bolt. ive got one on mine after a very similar accident. had it on there a few thou miles now been great.
