Just a quicky - when I turn the ignition on my fuel light comes on for a few seconds and then goes off, my neutral light comes on and stays on (obviously) and the red oil/FI light comes on and an oilcan symbol is displayed on the dash - this stays on until I start the engine and then goes off.
I'm sure this has only just started happeneing as I thought that the oil light would come on for a few seconds and then go off before actually starting the bike.
Any ideas? - it's an 07 pointy...

The oil pressure light will come on when you turn the ignition on but not fire up the engine, as no oil is being circulated, hence no oil pressure. It should go out the second you fire up the engine.

Least, thats what happens on my bike

They all do this. :)

The oil light is a pressure reading, not a level. Until the engine is turning over, the oil pressure is "too low."

Once the engine is cranked a few times, the light quickly goes out.

Which is why you should regularly check your oil level in the sight glass, rather than wait till the warning light comes on at 70mph helpfully informing you that your engine has just blown up.

Cheers guy's - yep, it goes out the instance I fire the engine - it was just one of those 'freak out' moments where I thought I'd never seen it do this before.
