What do you do on this then ? Do we deliver much needed choccy Eggs to the masses , or is it a Ride-out in traditional manner ?

Yes you have assumed rightly , YouTube videos of things I want to watch seem to take ages to load , stutter like a bugger half the time , and then fail , I get sent a link for something I couldn`t care less about on there and they load right away ?????????

OK, well, judging from the video posted (I haven't been to the egg run either as yet), think about a slow speed rideout, through a town. Every so often a bunch of kids hold their hands out for you to slap/shake as you ride past.
That's what the video was.
xXBADGERXx
17-01-09, 11:23 PM
I tried watching again just in case I had logged in at a busy time , I made a coffee , came back and screen was still black as if it was starting the stream , YouTube just makes me roll my eyes as there isn`t much you can do about it , other streaming sites absolutely scream along .
I won`t be slapping peoples hands I am afraid , my left Shoulder was broken and dislocated a couple of years ago when Mountain Biking , I can`t hold it outright for very long and any resistance on it hurts like a bugger . I`ll just settle for a nice blip of baffle-less Zorstys :)

No need to bring chocolate eggs or anything.... It`s basically a ride from New Brighton on the Wirral to Clatterbridge Hospital and at the end of the run people go round with buckets to collect money for charity.. It`s a very slow speed and yes people do stick their hands out to be shaken etc but I choose not too as I have to concentrate on the slow riding and whats in front of me. What you can`t see from the video is the sheer number of bikes that take part and the fantastic atmosphere. The roads are lined with people of all ages and it`s just an incredible experience. The ride (I think) took about an hour and a half (could be wrong) my wrists ached from being on and off the clutch all the time but would I do it again? hell yes.... to be able to take part in something so huge is incredible.
Last year we all went for something to eat after the run... was a great day out and not to be missed

Don't suppose any of you guy's and gal's would like to marshal the event ?
All that is involved is departing at 2min intervals and doinfg the run I know you said that you ride as a group but you can still arrive and depart as a group
if anyone is interested please email marshals@wirraleggrun.co.uk to express an interest.
The main objective is to observe and report
Sponsorship forms are now available for download off our website www.wirraleggrun.co.uk (http://www.wirraleggrun.co.uk/)
and the police have assured us that it will be running a bit quicker this year.

I got this from the Egg Run team. So if anyone wants to marshal please get in touch with them. Also Note the bit about sponsorship - This is a charity run, so either get sponsored or be prepared to put your hand in your pocket - and put paper money in! [-o<

Sorry to put a downer on this, but I received this email from a member of the Egg Run Team.
The thread does not make pleasant reading.
Hi
I write to you because you have registered as a member of the Wirral Egg Run forum.
It may be that you are fully up to date with the awful mess surrounding this year's event and precisely why it is that the organisers of last year's record breaking Run are not involved this year. I know not what you have been told about why we are not involved, we have heard various rumours and stories that are being spread about us.
I would like to ask you to take 10 minutes of your time to read a thread on our forum which sets out what has happened over the past 12 months. Frankly it does not make pleasant reading. It details the threats that we have had to endure and the events that lead up to the split and conflict that, yet again, dog the Wirral Egg Run. We have tried everything we can to sort this awfal mess out behind the scenes, but we have not succeeded.
Here is the thread:
http://wirraleggrun08.14.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=216 (http://wirraleggrun08.14.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=216)
We have decided what we will be doing to ensure that all the monies we raise will be going directly to help sick kids. You can find out more here:
http://wirraleggrun08.14.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=216 (http://wirraleggrun08.14.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=216)
As always, feel free to contact me if I can help you with anything.
Best wishes
ian
Also included in the email were his personal email address and mobile phone number, which I will not post for security reasons.

Yes folks need to make up their own minds about it. However, no where in that thread has anyone stated that the Police have brought charges. If any of all this alleged wrongdoing was so well documented and verifiable, don't you think people would be facing criminal charges?
I will be thinking about how I donate my money this year, last year I put £10 in the bucket.....

Sounds like there has been no evidence of illegal activities, yet alot of suspicion and power wrangling.
EDIT: I'm still going so if people want to meet up, great.
I know members of both sides of this argument personally. There is much mud slinging going on and this should not interfere with the purpose of the event. There is no criminal team out there knee capping organisers and stealing cash.
There have been some clashes of personality and some naivety in dealing with money raising for the most part.
If you support it then please continue to do so.

Yes That worked well and may I suggest we get there about 9:30 to leave by 10:00. This would put us at the Egg Run start about 10:30, giving us an hour to soak up the atmosphere, get a brew etc. It should put us in the middle of the cavalcade start to!
Happy to maybe share my moby number with somebody from the group in case of any panic bike problems you may have, I only live about a mile away from the start.
Workshop is close at hand if you need :-)
Someone post a google maps link to the meeting place? Am coming now, probably with the girlfriend pillion, so need to know where we're going :D

Get it into RD5 - they'll have it sorted sharpish. Never had to wait more than 30 mins for my bike to be checked out, even if they've got something on the bench at the time (providing the owner isn't stood there waiting).
Plus, they'll probably give you a cuppa, too ;)

Due to some unforeseen problems I shall not be attending the egg run today. This is after I have gotten myself completely ready.

Sorry I never managed to meet up with you all, it was close but not close enough.
After walking the full length of the prom to the start you had probably already started to leave :-), ah well.
What an awesome sight to see so many bikes in one place though, absolutely brilliant.
Highlight of the day for me was to see not only one, but two Ducati Desmosedici RR's. What a totally awesome motorcycle. I think there was only 1500 made and we get two at the egg run, brilliant.
Hope you all enjoyed, Mike.

I think it was the Idle mate and I have play in my throttle cables , it also doesn`t help having a heated grip that slides on the throttle tube when it`s really warm , set Idle to 1300 rpm now , and just going outside now to sort this play in the cables , first warm day of the year and I suppose they have developed a bit of slack . Aye a good day folks. As always being part of god knows how many thousands of bikes is pretty amazing! There were so many SVs not part of the ORG though, need to get out recruiting! And amazingly in the middle of those thousands of bikes I stopped next to someone who came on the NW4 rideout! The lass (and her b/f) joined NW4 at Betws-y-Coed petrol station, blue SVS with mohican on her helmet (cannot remember her name) - so if you looking in...... Hiya!

Looked for y'all but could'nt find you, I got to New Brighton for 9.45 then wandered around taking pics etc, didn't see too many SV's until Clatterbridge 12.45 - 13.45 but still only a handful and none in numbers like the Border Patrol, I did keep looking for Stewies orange Daytona 650 but didn't know whether he got his bike going as not been able to get internet access since last weekend, My 15 year old lad stuck in front of my computer doing his coursework all week - yea likely story! everytime I looked in he was on Facebook!

We arrived much later, about 10.30, so were parked right at the bottom of the prom. We were waving madly at every SV that went by, but they all just looked at us daft! I said we really needed an SV650.ORG banner strung across the front of the bikes :D I really should have taken my SV650.ORG flashcards to hand out to all the non-believers!
Was only thinking that some tshirts with the Egg Run banner on the front and sv650.org on the back.... Possibly even rope some one into sponsership for them too..... Lets face it... there were lots of eyes looking on yesterday ;);)
