hi,

thanks for looking, i have recently purchased a 2008 fireblade, and i do not really have enough space for the little SV anymore, i have only put about 1.5k miles on in 2008, so i am considering selling.

the bike is a 2001 SV650s, pearl lively yellow, it has 16.5k miles on the clock, the bike is in good condition, and runs very well, i brought the bike 5 or 6 years ago at 5k miles

i last serviced the bike 1.5k miles ago, at that point i done the following-
changed spark plugs
changed brake pads
fitted new brake lines
new brake fluid
oil and filter change
air filter change
coolant fluid change
synchronised the carbs
valve clearance check
cleaned and lubricated pretty much all moving parts
stripped forks, fitted new springs, fluid and seals
cleaned and lubricated rear suspension
fitted new sprokets and chain

lots of extras fitted to -

suzuki tail tidy
suzuki lower fairings
pyramid fenda extenda
black rear hugger
hagon progressive springs
HEL brake lines
ignition advance key
seat cowl
black double bubble screen
paddock stand bobbins fitted
stainless steel slip on exhaust with removable baffle
i have changed the sproket gear ratios for more torque at the wheel
bridgestone BT-014's, rear needs replacing

the cons.

the engine was replaced at 9k miles with one that had 8k miles on the clock (engine was replaced due to damage caused by oil leak!). i still have the other engine which im planning to rebuild and sell.

the left side fairing was repainted, the painter didnt match the colour 100% so there is a slight difference. its also missing the decal.

so what do you think it is worth? thanks

that puts it down to the cheapest in its millage range on auto trader :( would it make much difference if i sorted the colour difference on the fairing and fitted the decal?

That's because Hovis and Plowsie are telling you what it's worth, not what optimistic figure you should put it in Autotrader for. ;)

It might put it at the cheapest but your more likely to sell it in these hard times!!!
Put a little more than expected on it and then when they battle you down it will be a good earner still

There are 3 different prices when selling a bike

1. What you think its worth.
2. What a buyer thinks its worth.
3. What value the bike is actually worth.

All 3 are more than likely be different so a compromise between the 3 will probably see you with an amount you can be happy with.

or can be simplified as what someone is willing to pay lol.

i would be happy if i got £1500 for it all

Like all things. How quickly do you want to sell it really. Its great to see bike in Auto trader for £1500, but how many of them are actually selling at that price? Its ok as a guide and if youa re in no rush to sell then fine. However, if you want to get rid of pretty sharpish, then £1400 as is, no stripping of parts, sold as seen kind of thing and i reckon you would get a buyer. Its not saying that they will not try to knock you down form that price, but we all would.

As for the jump from an SV to a Blade! Blimey, thats a serious step. I like the design of the 08/09 blades, very nice indeed.

similar bikes in auto trader are listed at £1800-1900, so £1500 shouldnt be a problem, i can take upto 3 months to sell it, so no rush.

the blade is great, got her in october, run her in within a week, then took her for a ride down to south spain and back, was a mind blowing trip. shes tucked up in the kitchen at the moment hibernating for winter lol

one thing i like about the blade is that it is the same size and weight as the SV650s but has almost 3 times the power! it actually feels a bit lighter, much easier to manage as it has a lower centre of gravity. oh and the electronic steering damper is great! gives real confidence. one thing i miss from the SV is the low down torque, you have to get the blade to 5-6krpm to start hitting the high torque, it produces as much power as the SV at around 7-8krpm, and its peak power is at 12krpm! i rarely take it there! lol
