Bike is a 2005 sv650 race bike.I am interested in running a lightened fllywheel.Any of the ones i have seen seem to have no magnets in them. Can you bolt these on without modifying the wiring. In other words can i run a total loss system without changes to the wiring?Any info much appreciated.

isnt for minitwins is it? You wont be able to do this mod if it is.

The race flywheel I used on my 400 came with the magnets built in along with a new adjustable mounting for the pickup sensor.

Yeah just lob the alternator, reg-rec etc in the bin and insulate all the live bits you just chopped off...

P.s dunno how long battery will last since the fuel pump draws a fair bit of juice.

Also, I'd fit a relay and some nice thick wire to give the coils a direct current path to the battery, give them the best voltage they can get.

Something to think about.I,ll have alook and see what the pump is rated at.It would have to last half hour at least. Is there lightened flywheels that retain part of the magnets or could you just turn down a flywheel on a lathe with the magnets still in it.Would this trickle charge the battery?

there is company right there in UK somewhere that makes rotor/stator lighter than stock.not cheap.
other than that you better of leaving it alone.there is no much you can machine on stock one.
it is good mod on first gen because you can rewire whole bike and drop a lot of weight.

Dont go total loss on them, I tried it on the one I ran in the UK Thunderbikes and it was more pain and no gain!.

Many thanks for all the advice.I think total loss would be more pain for very little gain.Had a look at bdk's genny.Very nice but a bit expensive.
