It just makes it looks like a piece of cr@p. Like you can't even be bothered to turn a hose on it. Have some pride in your bike! :D

It gets a clean down once in a while....when hes not looking
I got his original forks to replace the ones that bambi bent. After scraping the muck off them, they were in absolute pristine condition, not a hint of white fur anywhere.

hhmmm that is a question YC has never answered...does he take pride in his bike??

Welll he must do, why else would he go to such lengths to make it look so crap!

Every time i take mine to be fixed he calls them a piece of Sh!!t...... anything far shinier in his book is the same. Never heard him call his own bike a piece of poo :-)
It'll be one of those interesting relics in a museum one day...
and as for surprising peeps with his filty bike its simple...its so filthy and black its stealth, he can hide in a dark corner and you won't see it....

I thought f---ugly when I received the parcel from a former Buell owner, he sent the screen free with the plastics and subframe. I said well I'll buy a black tinted one later but this will do for now got more important things to do, then I sort of got used to it. Maybe I'll spray the rims to match or maybe I'll buy the black tinted one!

How do you surprise people with your filthy bike?

The handling is roughly 51.7x better than a stock SV, the engine isn't stock. And I don't really mind the odd scrape so I'm not nervous in traffic.

Other little suprise... I dare you to ride close behind me when I'm gonna drop it and nail the throttle at 9k... the noise will make your head fall off :smt040

yorkie_chris
20-01-09, 03:34 PM
Yes congratulations your clean bike wins in the willy waving stakes. The question is, have you done anything interesting to it? Or is it just all mouth no trousers like most "modified" SVs?

Edit @ luckypants:
It's only running sloppy rich in the low-mids now, nice and crisp on the mains muahaha. "Yes officer I had to use 10krpm there, it's bad for the environment otherwise.. "

DarrenSV650S

I'd like to open up the engine. But I'm only just getting my head around carbs. So haven't got much of a chance

Yo YC!

On a second glance is that a gsxr600 front end? How easy to fit etc...?

yorkie_chris
20-01-09, 04:02 PM
Hardest bit is changing the headbearings. The SRAD6 stuff isn't much heavier than stock SV stuff so it's a right bargain of a mod, especially since the SRAD stuff can be a fair bit cheaper than SV OEM stuff!

SV rider....your downpipes not shiny enough!!

Tut theres always one thats finds the minor criticism and such detail lol! Does a rusty downpipe count as a modification? lol!

Why the single front brake northy, is it to do with caliper overhauls while keeping the bike on the road.

Nah, when I had the 2 R6 calipers, Brembo MC and 320mm Honda Sp2 discs, it was just stupidly overbraked- great on track, but evil in winter- so I was going to go for 310mm CBR600RR discs but then discovered these ancient 330mm Fireblade ones. So one blade disc the size of a dustbin lid, one R6 radial caliper and R6 mc instead, much less bite but all the power I need, lovely- and about 3kg lighter. The whole bike's only 171kg when it's unfaired (with all its fuel, oil, toolkit heated grips, HID headlight and extra big battery) and I'm not heavy so it takes less stopping than most.

oh, it's a Fireblade fitment dymag front wheel which is why I'm using honda discs, this wouldn't work on a stock wheel.

I love YC's bike, it's even more horrible in the flesh  But like a lot of rat bikes, it's what's under the festering crust that counts. In this case, limpets.

yorkie_chris
20-01-09, 08:10 PM
Why the R6 m-c rather than the brembo one?

16mm vs 18mm, the big brembo was too much for the single R6 caliper.

They are made by Renegade, my advice is to stay away.

It is from a Buell.

I know that some on here don't rate the Renegade cans (especially Dangerous Dave :smt019;)) however I was always very happy with the products and service I got from Jorge. In 2001 there weren't many people doing twin can set ups for the SV so my options were a bit limited!

Nooo. Yours moves... ;-)

This is how Anastasia currently looks.

I had to take the front of as the headlights are on the other bike, this is cus its lights had all the back smashed out so they need to be fixed. Its also in the early stages of a re-spray but the winter moved in and stopped all that. Almost ready for a MOT, on the list is connect up the rear lights and indicators, fit hand guards with moded built in indicators, swap for tyres with tread and set-up the rear caliper.

http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t155/lgmdaniel/SV%20rebuild/th_P010708_1827.jpg (http://s159.photobucket.com/albums/t155/lgmdaniel/SV%20rebuild/?action=view&current=P010708_1827.jpg)

As Paul mentioned this is the look of the fairing, though its missing the belly pan and mudguard as you can see.

Once she is MOT'ed and had the summer run, the next job is the 700cc heads.

Helga my other SV is currently in the running for the filthiness bike award with YC, though I might win on the damage award.

This is the last photo I have of her before she had a fight with a Lorry.

16mm vs 18mm, the big brembo was too much for the single R6 caliper.

So the brembo was the 18mm? Surely that would be the approach with more finnesse and less outright power (given the same leverage on the lever)

northwind
21-01-09, 01:02 AM
I like a longer throw rather than finesse, the 18mm felt good but I wasn't braking as well with it, I think it made me a bit hesitant.

I don't think the bellypan works
+1, it is too pointy compared to the rest of the bike. A Pyramid Plastics one might work.

The rear end sets it off very nicely, with the big seat unit.
That is an Airtech rear seat hump....

I loved it with the 320mm discs and the Tokicos, almost my perfect balance of power and travel I think. But hated it with the R6 caliper :( I miss it, it was pure billet sex. Did I mention it was off one of the Rizla Suzuki race bikes? I did? Several times? Ah well.

+2 Pyramid would look better, but there's issues with non OEM downpipes. Looks like this has Micron, which wouldn't fit the Pyramid bellypan.

I managed to fit my pyramid bellypan, but only after grinding and cutting one of the support brackets. Even then the downpipe is very close to the belleypan.

Haven't had a test run with it either, so don't know what going to happen

They are not Micron headers, I wouldn't think there would be clearence issues with the ones in the photo. The problem with the Micron pipes is they hang to low, its a cheap design anyway.
