That's bizarre, I was just this minute reading about the Stig's identity on tinterweb :)

"The disclosure of the Stig’s identity came after an internet hunt by fans of the programme."

To use a popular expression - LOL.
Sad that they would do that, sad too that they consider themselves fans of the show. A bit of Trekky-ness to that, finding plot holes and grilling the writers or stars about them. Geary?

I think everybody knew there was a man in there really didn't they? What a shock that he should actually have a name also. Perhaps the funniest thing is that some people don't seem to realise that the whole point of "The Stig" was that you can't always have the same driver driving every car, but it's good to pretend to.

The comments on the article are quite cool.

"It really doesn't matter who is behind that white helmet. You know why? Because the Stig is so much more than that...he is not simply a mortal human being...They Stig is a symbol, an immortal being sent from a different galaxy with the sole purpose of uniting all petrol heads!"

"It is the Stig PRETENDING to be Ben Collins! If you lift the flap under Collins' chin you will see the white helmet! The Stig sometimes wears a helmet in the shape of Ben Collins' head in public. Golly, all of you are soo gullible!"

It is a bit sad that people have done it though, the Stig is the stig, leave it at that.

I'm guessing that there will be The Stig 3.0 for the next series then.

I forget exactly where I read it but it seems that the BBC had a clause written into the contract between them and 'The Stig' that if his identitiy is released (regardless of by whom or where) then they have the right to cancel the contract immediately.

If this does happen, then I hope that those sad muppets are pleased with themselves - costing someone what I can only guess to be a very enjoyable (and pretty lucrative) job !!

Sadly though no one ever thinks like this, they wanted the story and now they have it! Something that seems to happen time and time again without thought to the individuals concerned!

I say keep him, the new Stig is a good character which is played well when not behind the wheel.

The last guy wanted everyone to know he was the Stig. He got fired, maybe because the names and faces of the show are JC, RH and JM?

There's a big difference from Stig1 revealling himself (oo err!) in his auto biography & Stig 2 being outed.
So what colour would Stig 3 be :-k
