My bike seems to be getting a few more flase neutrals (if thats what you call them, select gear i.e. 3rd to 4th and a couple of seconds later bike revs like its in neutral), than I did 6 months ago.

Its happening most trips now but mainly when hard acceleration.

Its a K2 curvey with 12K on the clock, had it since 8K & done 2 oil changes (just done 2nd).

Could this be caused by:

1. Riding style, not being firm enough with the gear shift. Only happens changing up. Adjust something.

2. Gearbox is a bit worn. Check something.

3. You put the wrong oil in. 10W40 on the F line when upright.

4. Don't worry about it, its a feature all SV's do it.

5. Something else.

Could somebody let me know the most likely cause is and replace the somethings with proper words. [-o<

Thanks in anticipation.

Forgot to say chain tension is correct.

Have you checked that your chain is adjusted properly. I cant remember but I think its supposed to have 25-35mm of movement on it. If you look on the chain guard if you have it still on the bike, theres a sticker on there that tells you what to adjust it to.

the suzuki stuff is normally reasonably durable in my experience

+1 chek chain adjustment, is clutch adjusted correctly?

normally ive know it to be worn/damaged gears in gearbox. though i know that some bikes have writeup indicating design feature!!!

the early bmwr1100rs 5speed boxes, the early yamaha tdm850's.. and a moto guzzi my mate had (not old or high mileage!!) but that had 5neutrals- one between each gear!! shocking that.

but to my point, that would be my next chek the gearbox, these problems (if it is gearbox) dont go away, but can sometimes be worked around or dragged out untill they have a slow death..

ill shut up now.

id also check the gear selector peg thingy for the angle its connected at, may mean your not changing up enough due to your riding position -if that makes sense

Yes makes sense, especially as it has never happened changing down.

I'll give it all a good clean and adjust the peg thingy then, might have to wait till it stops p**sing down though.
