View Full Version : Good film, classic scene?
Just watched the film Heat on DVD (again). Good film, not a classic IMHO, but the shootout scene is a classic. Another example would be Ronin. A good film, but the car chase is a classic scene.
What other films are not classics, but have classic scenes? Recommendations please :D

ok, if its bikes, the one at the beginning of Black Rain
milla jovovich smashing through the church window in resident evil apocalypse on the bike quite cool i thought.
Agree with Lissa about Leon, terrific film. Not a classic film but Ace Ventura???
Airplane Stewardess (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0020716/): Peanut?
Ace (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000120/): Yes, I have one right here. It's bulky, but I consider it carry-on.
One of many.

...but the shootout scene is a classic.
Agreed, excellent scene.
Also the first 15 mins of Saving Private Ryan, perhaps no more than an OK film, but that scene is epic.

its not a classic film, but the racing sequences in "Grand Prix" especially the stuff shot at Monza and Spa are fricken genius.

The "I've seen attack ships on fire..." ad lib/scene in Bladerunner.
Agreed, excellent scene.
Also the first 15 mins of Saving Private Ryan, perhaps no more than an OK film, but that scene is epic.
is the opening sequence its downfall therefore?
i agree with your choice good sir, the opening 15 is amazing cinematography, shocking might me more acurate. but the rest kinda limps along, fairly good ending but again in the shadow of the start.
Best Car chase has to be either the Italian Job or Bullit,
The Ronin Chase i think is in there with a chance as well as is the opening of Quantum of Solace
French Connection 1 & 2 - utterly epic chase scenes in both and when they get popeye in 2 and turn him inot a junkie - the kickin off scenes are not to be forgotten...
Course Billy Friedkin did another epic chase that is v rarely mentioned but is deffo up there withthe greats - its called To Live & Die in LA .....
as for great scenes in not great films - how about Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid - the Raindrops Keep Fallin on my head on the bike is great - tend to forget the rest....
But gotta disagree about Heat - AL PAcino SHOUTING at everyone does not a good film make - IMVHO !!!
De Niro never bettered Mean Streets and Taxi Driver...except the Deerhunter - the russian roulette scene alsmost made me walk out of the cinema -i thought id gone to see a natural history film about shooting elk !!:D

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain.

I once has that as a .wav file, but not from the film.
The brother of a guy I worked with was in the film industry and managed to get Rutger to agree to speak it again for him while recording it.

It's where I think the film should have ended personally- even though it doesn't tie up the deckard questions...

Christopher Lee in leather singing "Name Your Poison" to Alan Arkin in "The Return of Captain Invincible" and all the lyrics are names of drinks...
I have Rutger's quote on my wall at work. Although as most people here (at my work) have no idea about what movie its from, that just proves that lawyers dont usually like sf.
