Picture this.
One rider leaves home in Scotland, as he travels south he meets other riders and they tag along, they pass through the north west and more riders swell their ranks. Into Yorkshire and the Midlands they ride picking up yet more riders, the noise gradually growing. They head south east and along the way more joined the intrepid band. The noise is now no longer a distant rumble but is a full blown overhead mother of all storms. people run for cover as we approach, children cling to their parents. We finally reach our destination ready to do battle and.....
.....have a bl**dy good time.
What do people reckon?
I'm sure we can sort out a suitable route between us.
Much easier to have lots of smaller groups.
You've been watching too many Bennetts adverts!

Easier is not necessarily better.

I gather from the response that this is not a popular idea! :(

People just normally sort themselves out and ride down in small groups with the rest of the peeps from their region or just on their own.
A big group of riders arriving all the same time is going to cause a headache for the organisers also it'll be a headache keeping everyone together on the road to and you may attract the wrong sort of attention from the police which isnt a very good idea...

haha, it would help to know who bear is, ill just remember not to hide up tree's and play dead i think thats what they tell you to do, ill bring some sardines to distract him with, or maybe a pint would work better haha
He's a very big and friendly Bear who likes to hug a lot.
Some call him the Forum deviant but that's just because he's hot
He's lovable and tall and big and guys just want to be him
And Girls just swoon and blush a lot because they can't deny him
xx

thats why its a slow paced rideout, actually we did have a small spot of bother this year from the police, but they left us alone in the end.
TBH cross that bridge when or if we come across it...
Rideout wont get posted on the forum, you dont need to worry about getting lost every junction will be marked.
what is the date of the rideou then? is it 1-2 august i didnt think the date had been comfirmed.

Yep, I pulled out of the start point and was at the front as I was leading and there was a policeman on the A303 he stopped to speak to Liz who was supposed to take pictures of you all as you peeled off the A303 on the quiet back roads and then chucked a mental at her about 80 odd bikes going past him in a manner that he wasnt very happy about.
Didnt help that he parked in a daft place and blocked the marker that I'd left on the junction and it meant some last minute moves were carried out and he wasnt very happy about it.

No he just ranted at her and then told her to be on her way, he followed the rideout for a little while, and then went on his merry way.

If soho organisation is anything liek alst year, we'll all agree to meet at a given place at a given time on a given day, then split up into smaller groups, then all have differant routes and then end up coming all seperatly but along the same route and arriving at differant times
Me and maria shall probably come alone, or at least arrive alone if we did set of with any soho'ers, given that i expect they will arrive quicker than me and maria

I need some input from those of you who know the area.
What is the best way to approach Althorne from the North West (say Cambridge-ish) with regard to best biking roads?
