Dear .Org
as some of you might remember I am marrying the Lovely Kitten this year.
Now due to theis finacial down turn we lost all Profit forecast on our house and having to sell due to relocation meant we are now scrabbling to pay for the wedding as the last thing we want is to finance the thing.
The wedding is mostly accounted for, but the honey moon remains somewhat "FAIL". I have knocked arround the idea of honey mooning a few months later but that has been met with mild grumbles and even I suppose it would just be a Holiday really.
So where do can we go for a week that is relaxing, cheap enough, a bit different and special..
Yes once again... moon on stick
ooh the moon theres a good idea..
oh skeg is out... so is blackpool...

Surely you can't go wrong with a nice little cottage in a nice little village with a nice little pub?
I guess it depends what you're after.
Congrats in advance

When are you gettinjg married?
we had our honeymoon 6 weeks after the wedding as christmas was looming and we wanted to spend it with the family. so we went in January as for it being more like a holiday than a honeymoon definately not. it was every inch a honeymoon
no idea on destinations to be honest need to know when you are getting married as i guess you will want somewhere with decent weather??
Look at anywhere in Eastern Europe that is outside the Euro-Zone. Poland is cheap

November 14th....
How about book the time off work and then get a last minute deal booked about 2 weeks before the wedding?

i agree with lily get something last minute and think about where you would like to go too
Dont get married until you can afford it all!

Last minute is a good idea. It might be worth looking on the internet and the travel agents for any speacial offers as well?
What sort of holiday are you after? i.e. hot, cold, mild? abroad or in the UK? short flight or long flight? How long do you want to go away for?
Theres loads of places you could go to depending on what your after. TBH im not being much help because I dont travel abroad often..!

*Gulp* Sell the bike? :( desperate measures and all that but if the honeymoon means so much, would it be worth sacrificing two wheels (through the winter months anyway) in order to get yourself a really nice honeymoon? Just a thought :)

No and she has told me not too!
Its an aprilia.. its not worth 2 nights in Skeg now!
We did our honeymoon on a tight budget and went to Bath - stayed in a 5* hotel for 4 nights and did the whole tourist thing including the night time roof top spa (which was amazing!) - I would thoroughly recommend it as its a very romantic place :)

Maybe but then again travel agents will bite your hand off if you book now. In fact, if you phone them they'll send a car for you!
Of course, you will need some clue as to where to go...
If you can't bear the Stag/Hen horror of Easyjet/Ryanair flights and destinations, think about bonnie Scotland. Off the top of my head, Applecross - linky (http://www.applecross.uk.com/).
Viney..who can ever afford it?My point exactly. Dont get married.
I could suggest somewhere like centre parcs. Its lovely in the winter and can be as cheap as £180 for the both of you.

nooooo he doesn't want to go there. A friend of mine went there with his kids and came back after 2 days, he said it full of middle class twonks, with horrid kids. All he heard was shouts of 'Jasper, don't do that darling' and 'Charlotte, no you can't take the horsey home'
you get the picture:rolleyes:

Ever the romantic eh Dizz?
There's nothing telling you you have to keep with tradition and have the honeymoon soon after the wedding, after all the whole idea of the honeymoon is to enjoy spending time with your beloved so having a nice trip away anytime after will be better for both of you. No need to spend your time away worrying about finances if you know you've got it cheap. Depending on the people of course, I think a place with plenty to do and experience would be better as opposed to lazing about on a beach but of course people have their own tastes :D Sorry I rambled on a bit lol!

When is the wedding? If it is off season, get a little cottage in Scotland, the Lake District, somewhere nice and it'll just be the two of you all cosy and secluded (but able to get out and have fun if you want).
You could look at a long weekend in Vegas so you can do the party thing, the relaxing by the pool thing and a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon. More than 4 days is vegas is a waste. Then you could go away for a longer honeymoon of your choice when you've saved up a bit more.

Here are a few 4 night city breaks that would be special and in good hotels. I put in the date of Sunday 5th July for four nights, so the flight reflects a peak time rate and leaving on a sunday (if you are getting married on a Saturday).
All look to be really reasonable and there are loads more destinations.

Here here. Centre Parcs is sweet. Been at least twice a year for the last 3 now. Each time was cheaper than the last. Got a 8 bed chalet thingy for £30 each for the week!!! Almost the whole week was spent going down the river rapids!!! Sweeet

In honesty I think if the money was an issue then I`d be happy to forego the honeymoon especially if you`re having to move house! the wedding is the most important thing so save your money for your new home... you can have a honeymoon/holiday at a later date.
If your girlfriend insists on doing something then just book a nice country pub somewhere that are running a 3 nights for the price of 2 or something.

Don't bother, it is an expensive waste of money when there are more important things to worry about when starting married life together.
A honeymoon/holiday will happen as and when you can afford it. In the meantime, just book into a good local hotel for your wedding night.
I take it that you will be doing the business up here in kitten country.
I had a thought this morning................
Can you do a wedding list at a travel agents??????
Because if you already have a house, you don't need the normal things that you put on a wedding list such as plates, iron etc.
Instead you could set up a list at the travel agents?! I don't know if this can be done by the way, just an idea!

My wife's half-brother did a wedding list at a travel agents in Norwich - well basically they just booked the holiday and then asked people to donate towards it - what ever was left they paid for themselves - worked quite well.
Friends of mine were in the same situ. They had their home all sorted so didn't need the usual bits and pieces given as wedding presents. They were also tight on budget, but both had dreamed of going on safari.
They set-up a website with all the wedding details for guests (a few were traveling etc), explained their dream and asked if people could donate as opposed to buy presents. They set up a paypal a/c specifically - link on the site... They did a small wedding list with John Lewis as well, but they got their dream.
Just a thought.

No we are getting married here in shandy pansy country.. my old home county the north was too cold. lol.
I think my fear is spending **** loads of wonga on a place and hotel I have never heard of, the only reviews are whining buggers that saw a scary insect and someone got the ****s because they drank too much but suspect food poisening. I cannot bare the thought of forking out for it to be crap.
The wdding list idea could be a possibility,
Kittens sister is a summer holiday reveler and so has found some lovely places, ill see what she comes up with and can reccomend from the past!
