View Full Version : What should I have done?
On way to work today I came across a motorbike in distress.
As I rode past thinking I should do something, I decided I would & went back to it. Was a GS1200 fairly new (possibly an '08?) on it's side on the pavement after it had taken out a bollard. Shaft drive cover broken, engine bars & skid guards broken & that was on the side that was up
I was going to call the Police thinking it had been stolen, but it was on a German plate so reckon they wouldn't be able to trace the owner anyway.
It's on the road outside Battersea Helipad if anyone wants parts ;)
sound's like someones half inched it yeah.

i was gonna say - did you check the immediate area to see if there was a mangled german covered in gravel nearby?

It wasn't the oafish one from Top Gear dropping it out from a chopper - to ' chopperise ' it ?

Jeez i'd have phoned the police straight away.
No signs of blood trails or anything? :p

It's in a built up area, not much chance of the rider thrown clear & hiding under a bush.
No sign of rider, no blood trail.
Bike was gone by tonight

does anyone know how to get a shaft drive cover off a GS1200? Not quite sure of year but it's 1-2 years old. Oh it's for a mate by the way :)

I would have phoned the police. Theres a high chance that bike could have been stolen...If it was my bike I would have wanted it back.

Yeah, & that's why I went back, stopped practically got my mobile out, but it was the German Plate :smt102 the Police are not going to rush and do anything - they probably & hopefully don't even have the authority to recover it just because it was parked badly - so would you really if it's foreign registered?
Oh & looking again today the rider could have been thrown far & I wouldn't have been able to see him - but v. unlikely.

I bet Jimmy Tan got at it, but his puny little legs couldn't touch the deck on it though bless him.
