Hi!
Looking at maybe buying an SV650S K4 later on to add to my 1200GS so I thought I'd register & say hello.
I think I may haggle with the seller later on today, here's the details - what do you think?
2004 with 9333 miles.
2 months MOT & Tax
He's looking for £2595 but I'm looking at something nearer £2100.
Am I being unreasonable?
See ya later. :)

Hello and welcome to the forum, try and arrange for a test ride (even on a K9 as it is the same bike).

Bonjour.
I don't think you'll get much more than that off a dealer, but with a private seller and that tax&mot, you'll do better looking on here for bikes. There's some cracking deals to be done in the for sale section.
Good luck anyway!

Unreasonable? Generous more like. I would offer him between £1800 and £2000 tops.
I've seen 2004's with less mileage for for £1800. Hes dreaming at £2595!

Thanks for all the 'welcomes'.
Here's the bike (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=220350262063) I'm interested in.
I'd be really interested if you guys here think the price it's going for is a fair one or if I should stick to my £2100 offer.
I've PM'd the seller & left a text but I'm still waiting for him to get back to me.
Thanks.

ah quality bike there matey :)
could be worth doing the usual thing, waggle the notes in front of him "I've only got £2100 in cash with me today, so you can have this right now and it's a done deal?"
Alright la, welcome aboard, have you checked out the border patrol section yet ? top name btw :D

Just had a reply from the seller:
Quote
I am not going from the Parkers guide and
just based my price on others on E-bay and the
auto trader. My one is probably the best
condition and only 9K miles, and still one of the
cheapest around.
I am not desperate to sell the bike as just fancy
a change. The price I am after is £2500. This is
non negotiable if you are wanting to come and
view it.
So he's basically saying I don't care what it's worth I want more than that!
I'm not going to reply to him to but I think he's assuming because other bikes are listed at a certain prices he thinks they're selling at those prices.
How can you say I am going to ignore Parker's Guide & ask more?
So, Ill be popping in here more often & checking out what's for sale.
Walk away from it. He wouldn't exactly drop £500 from his original price anyway. Another will come up soon, and better deals. Just keep an eye on ebay and the for sale section. ;)

aye, i've heard car dealers using that one "we don't use parkers" which is when I say "I know, which is why I got hold of the glasses guide"
in all fairness, a vehicle is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it on any given day of any given year, with consideration for weather, recessions, house prices and the cost of oil all playing their tiny little part in influencing the market...
there'll be a nicer one for less money along shortly :)

Hey guys dont really class as new but i have few posts, got a yellow K2 curvy back home hoping to bring her over. Are there any suggested modifications to do to the curvy sv so that she rides better and how would i be able to test for restrictors?
Thanks
DeJaVu
.. simple test.. if it pulls in 6th gear it´s not restricted.. or if you can do 100mph it isnt restricted ;)
Loads of modifications to an SV go take a look in tunning and tweaking section and do a few searches. Immediate one is an after market can but obviously these things will have an impact on your insurance.
