So, what with the government's obsession with making everything illegal, speeding, fun, common sense and a bit of simulated strangulation sex, i feel like i'm gradually slipping into the minority with a 100% clean license...

How many valid* points to you currently have on your license?

3. But the 'offence' - I personally don't consider doing 61 in a 50 on a clear dual carriageway in dry weather in broad daylight to be an offence - was on 29 January 2006. So I think they are now historic as of yesterday but they stay on my licence for an extra year. Something like that anyway.

I was catching up with DMC on the way to Ashbourne on Saturday and didn't notice a camera in Burntwood as I overtook a Fiat at 37 in a 30. No NIP received yet. The camera didn't flash and I'm wondering whether the Fiat shielded the action.

I assumed you meant current points. There are 13 points showing on my licence but none are current (i.e. all are over 4 years old) so can be removed if I pay the thieving gits to do it.

Yes, that would be why i highlighted the word "currently" in italics:p:mrgreen:

Well they are 'currently there' in that they are printed on the paper but are not valid. (am being a pedant aren't I?)

None, driving for 9.5 years, riding for 4 years, got away with it so far...

Zero - but only cause they've been removed

I had three for speeping in the car, and another three for speeding on the bike (could have been worse as I was only on the back wheel). All were removed four years ago, waited to remove all of them together.

I got nicked for 58 in a 50, 2 1/2 years ago in my Golf. Stupid thing is I knew damn well there was a camera there, but forgot the road had been pointlessly (except for the purposes of making cash from the camera) downgraded to a 50, so I kept my speed down to under 60 and still got nicked.

Aren't you moving house? Don't they come off for free when you renew for a reason like that or is that urban myth?

I got 3 for doing 36 in a 30 limit. 2 weeks earlier the gits reclassified the road down from 40 to 30 and then put a scamera van at the bottom of hill that gets you as you come round the bend.

Even more annoying is 10 years earlier the same road was NSL. there has been no development simply one death due to an overloaded truck overturning and my mates parents getting wiped out by an inexperienced speeding driver

Yes and they will be gone then

never ever ever had any points or endorsements! :)

but ive been pulled over lots and lots.

I ride fast, but only when it makes sence, and never filter at 80 like some numpties on the motorway

i had 9 points when i was a teen with a bike provisional...

i have had zero points in the past 20 odd years..

Agreed, 80mph is far too slow to make filtering worthwhile. If you're going to filter make sure the bike is capable of at least 110mph and turn the mirrors in.

+1. Nothing wrong with filtering at 80 if you're confident with what you're doing :smt051

lol, if that was sarcastic then, yes i agree

but undertaking at that speed is not safe, cars just dont see you :(

but each to their own, you only have to get it wrong once

3 points for doing 36 in a 30, through a gatso I saw but couldn't be rsed to slow down any more for.
Been pulled three times for speeding, each time in excess (and then some!) of 70 in 30mph zones. Somehow always been let off with just a massive bollicking. I guess because they were always early a.m., and mostly because they didn't manage to film me or get evidence.
Never had any trouble with the law on the bike though. I must be well slow!

Ok this is going to sound a silly question but if you have both a car and bike licence are they combined in the eyes of the law or treated as seperate licences? For example, if you were caught speeding in your car and gained 3 points would these be automatically transferred to your bike licence also? Sorry if that sounds confusing

Ok cheers both. I just wondered for a minute as you need to take seperate tests for both theory tests so thought maybe...anyway ta for clearing that up!

good thread. But isnt it more relevant if we also know how long that licence has been held.I have had my licence for 26 yrs and had 3 points for speeding on my way back from Oulton Park when I was 20.That was 23 yrs ago.
Twentythree yrs without points is surely better than a yr old licence that never had points.

I guess I was exaggerating a little! I probably have filtered / undertaken at 80 but I wouldn't make a habit of it!

But they don't need to see you if you make yourself responsible for your own safety.

Miss YC ftw I like your polices :D They should be separate with 12 points availabe on each

Well it would make more sense in my head, but then I suppose if you ride like a numpty in a car then you probably will on a bike so perhaps it wouldn't make much difference?

I agree You don't necessarily drive like a numpty just cos you ride like one.
It's like Insurance companies won't let you transfer NCB from a car to a bike but they still want to know about Car accidents & speeding convictions in a car :smt072 They can Feck off

On the way to campsite at AR08 on the saturday morning, I definitely didn't go past the speed camera on the A37 at 86mph in the 50mph limit, on the wrong side of double solid white lines.

I've got 9 points and it sucks. I'm petrified of making even the slightest mistake.

The only way I'm going to keep my licence is to buy a restricted bike.

One restricted to 186mph should do...

will be ready to rock and roll tomorrow with pics, if you're interested;)

Never had a single point on my license, I've been pulled twice for speeding and fined, and fined a further two times from cameras, but still no points as I ride/drive nice and slow ;)

Techically zero now, the last 3 of my 6 points came off in October but I haven't sent my licence off yet for their actually removal cos I'm too tight to pay the £17 or whatever it is :)
