Where is the option for al those fair weather rides "I'm usually the fastest on the road unless it shows the slightest sign of rain, in which case I run away and hide in my car"
I so wish I could have made this a public poll - but I know you lot wouldn't have answered then :(

I mainly go with the flow of traffic. Tend to stick to speed limits in town because there are loads of undercover police cars and marked cars around. Not to mention speed cameras
The motorway is a different story. Last time I went to brighton I accidentally went 90mph (I know that isn't very fast to some of you) but it was rather funny because matt said "do you realise your doing 90mph?" and my response was "oopsie"
Option 2 :D
But then I really do go past traffic (outside towns) like they are going backwards, butu usually try to stay under a tonne ;)
Most of my overtaking is coming into bends, roundabout, and exitting them (usually 2 lane each way roads rounds my area).
Even lost an R1 the other week. the big girl bottled the braking zones. I got excited, go little Bandit. Soon as we got on the straights again though, VROOOOM past he goes.
Catch me ;)
I voted 'go with the flow of traffic' when on the bike, although obviously overtake when safe to do so. But I'd answer number 1 or 2 when I'm in the car...

You go faster in a car than a bike? :???:
I really struggle to not get bored going with the traffic sort of speeds.

Usually the fastest on the road as I don't see many nutters! If I'm out with the GixerJunkies, then they're the nutters!!

doesn't matter too much. This train of thought can get people killed.

but I don't do it to BE the fastest on the road. I just ride at a speed that I find comfortable and notice that nobody overtakes me :(

I generally make good prawgress, only really ever get over taken in bad weather (this time of the year) by idiots in cars driving too fast for conditions and in summer only really get overtaken by idiots doing stupid speeds in 30's and 40's.
Of course I dont ride everwhere like an idiot...

Thinking doesn't get people killed!
Besides, I don't ride to be the fastest, I ride to enjoy myself, I just happen to enjoy going quite fast! I also happen to pay a lot more attention to my surroundings when I'm going faster, but when I'm just pootling, I have a tendency to drift off into my own little world. Visa vi, it's saferer for me to ride quickly!:D

I know what you mean just one of my pet hates are the R1 boys who go on about how they're the fastest things about 100 in 30 residentials etc.

As far as I'm concerened, on my bike 30's and 40's are just that, 30's and 40's. National speed limits, however, are fair game for testing the upper echelons of the speedo!;)

Yes, in fact it's quite the opposite, not thinking gets people killed - the better you concentrate the better it is. I abide by the 30/40 limits most of the time, I've been know to take a judgement call before, but NSL is fun time (with good judgement caveats all over of course). The harder I ride the more aware I am. But I do tend to ride a bit slower when I'm on my own for some reason, than if I'm with a (nutter) fast group.
i ride nice and relaxed like no rush too get anywhere just enjoy it.
