I'm having a bit of an idea. I'm going to post in here as it involves all ladies on the .org.

Another forum I'm on is having a ladies only ride out weekend. Anyone on here interested?
Or would I be slated for being sexist?!;)

Another group we used to ride with arranged a girls-only ride because the girls were fed up of being buzzed all the time by the guys, or feeling pushed to go faster than they were happy with.

None of the guys moaned, they just went off on a boys ride:D

anyway............ you would all get lost and go the wrong way, then you would be stuck as you would have to do a U-turn, so you would have to ask the nearest MAN to turn all your bikes around

it would be CHAOS

I've been buzzed by other blokes like that, its not because they are blokes, its becaue they are tw*ts...

Personally its up to you I dont have a problem with it. But Liz said its not something she'd be interested in, she prefers just to be treated like any other biker would, rather than being singled out to be a "girl biker" and go on a girls only event.

As for the ride out I think it's a brilliant idea, don't listen to all the sexist jibes, just go for it. I'm sure the ladies would enjoy a girls only ride out for all the same reason us chaps like a blokes only weekend......

Yeah, I must admit, if I rode I wouldn't want to go on a girl-only ride either, just not my sort of thing. That doesn't mean they aren't entitled to organise one if they wish to though, without getting all the sexist crap thrown at them.

ahem....I'm very good getting to places....thankyou, .....usually because the blokes don't bother to plan the route before hand and have no idea how to get there

I just don't like riding in groups.

I prefer to ride by myself, I just feel more comfortable that way, I dont mind group riding on a big rideout where the pace is slower or I have plenty of room I dont mind it, but I dont like riding in a big pack of mixed ability riders when its all bunched up. Its just me it has nothing to do with the people I'm riding with whether they are male or female.

If you want to organise it, then do so. Like I said I dont have a problem with it. If you want to use the forum to organise your ride then go ahead.

I don't have a problem with the principle: IMO, people should be able to choose who they ride with and if that's a bunch of people of your own gender, so be it.

Glad to see the testosterone has settled and some sensible replies have been made.

As Lissa said earlier, a bunch of gals from another site we were on did the sexist thing. Worked really well. They didn't get lost, overload their bikes with shopping, or cry cos they couldn't get their bikes off the stands. They did have a brilliant day, rode some nice roads at a speed they were comfortable with, pointed out all the hot guys in tight leathers, and generally acted like kids.

Went on one once.
It was really weird but then it was probably only the 2nd organised "rideout" I'd been on.

Still weird though.

3's my favourite number.... after that mild paranoia sets in - although I'm getting more used to having motorbikes in my mirrors that aren't going to reappear under my elbow.

And an all Female rideout is truly strange.

Did I say weird?

How off topic was that?

before I moved I went on a rideout with the curvey riders which is an all woman bike forum with loads of women in scotland which is pretty rare. Id be up for an all female rideout as it would be good to get to know some of the other ladies on this site. Ive not ridden for a year and it would be good to ease in to riding again. Saying that did a ladies only track night and they were worse than the men, all felt they had to prove something.

On a serious note we run a nmber of confidence rideouts several years back, not totally one gender or the other, but had a number of girls on them, breaking the riders down into smaller groups for instruction it was easier to group the girls together, as you knew you wouldn't have to repeat yourself three times with that group.... they would listen and do it.

although you do get some women with high confidence, generally blokes tend to think they are better than they actually are and women worse, but in reality the ability in comparison to experience is about the same..:smt102

I've been on a couple of ladies only rides. One was organised through a site which has a 'Ladies Only' section. When this section was proposed it was much derided by the menfolk and the proposer (not me btw) was accused of being sexist. But basically the women wanted a place where they didn't feel intimidated by the men who seemed to know it all about bikes and riding and everything else. Personally I didn't feel the need because I've never had a problem with feeling intimidated or whatever by men. So the section was set up and it's really quiet in there. A bit of girlie gossip, bit of racing news (a couple of the girls there race) but pretty boring really. I think the men have even forgotten it's there now.

As for the ridouts - well one was arranged for women only because we wanted to go faster and further than some of the boys and didn't want to hurt their poor egos by telling them on group rides. Another was a gentler, more supportive ride to give confidence to some new women riders who felt more comfortable with other girls.

Usual bull in many fields, mouth size α 1/skill

I seem to remember a chat with some members on here who ran a no overtaking rideout, which one (total f##kin) member, decided to attend, then go hooning past the person this ride was arranged for, for reasons related to her experiences of riding in a group AFAIK.
Quite why the aforementioned member decided to go hooning past is probably more down to someone compensating for cornering ability, and perhaps a deficit in other areas.

I digress. If a girls only ride is going to be a laugh for you, then get the fack on with it.

I won't be so patronising to suggest you need lots of other girlies around for any particular reason of "needing the confidence" or whatever. But why did you feel the need to ask?

P.s, tight leathers, post pics.

As to the whole women only thing, I dont get that at all... I cant recall having issues riding with ladies (not done it often ill admit) and I cant really remember them having a problem riding with us blokes. Of course no matter what group you have you will have some idiot(s) but i like to think on here for the most part there is enough respect to not let things happen... maybe im wrong though :(

If it makes you feel better then by all means have a women only bike ride. Whatever makes you happy. ;)
