Hello, I'm considering buying the new SV650 K9 and the best price I've found so far is £4450 OTR - inc first service free, tank of petrol, 12 months road tax. Does anyone know of any better deals out there at the moment?

well thats just saved you over a grand:p

where abouts are you? as there maybe some one on here willing to look at one with you, for a cup of tea and bit of lunch.

although theres not much to look at on an 08 with that low milage, unless its been dropped

i would be looking for a 06-07-08

you will lose a lot of money buying new, is it your first bike?

not a bad price ,but try ringing around a few national dealers and play them off one another. They need to make a living but you also need a good deal. Doing that I got over 1600 off my bike including delivery etc. Out of 14 phone calls, 3 dealers came down to esentially the same price (35 quid in it). So it was really down to colour scheme that i wanted.
If its just the naked version I guess you could get that below 4K, or 4.4 with some goodies (heated rips, luggage etc)

yeah its my first bike, I also saw the Bandit on £3999 and have heard good reports (although I dont think it looks as good as the sv), just need to decide!!

agree with Odin, if you want brand new - ring round - i got 1300 off list on mine.

for an SV personally i would go 2nd hand as Hovis says, you can pick up a tidy K5 or K6 for just over half the cost of a new one.

brand new is cool, BUT only if you are going to keep for a good few years due to the resale value.

yeah its my first bike,!!

then i would spend about 2grand on a 2005/6.

(dont forget all your kit will cost a few hundred quid)

keep that for a bit, then decide what to do, the new SV will lose about £500 the minuite you take it out of the shop

if you do go with a new one, try to get some extras thrown in (crash-bungs, fenda extenda etc)

there is always a few bikes in the for sale section on here

There are some bargains to be had out there.
As its a first bike I wouldnt go for a brand new as theres more risk of having a few spills due to lack of experience (talking from personal experience).
I paid £2800 for an sk5 just after xmas but it had just over 1000 miles on it.
Shop around, use auto trader as I find that ebay tends to push a sale a bit quickly at times and keep an eye on here too.
Any questions for what to look out for will be on here somewhere and if you cant find it, just ask and someone will point you in the right direction.

If you want a brand new SV and don't want to pay more than £4k follow these simple instructions:
1. Look up the number for George Whites in Swindon.
2. Dial the number and ask to speak to Pete (Sales Director)
3. Say i'd like to buy a new SV650, but don't want to pay more than £4k oh and i'd like it delivered for free.
4. Give him your credit card details / and or agree to finance deal.
5. Sit back and wait for it to be delivered.

Give it a try - i'd say its got an 80% chance of working. If he can't do £4k he'll come very close and will prolly give you loads of free stuff if u ask.

hey,
just to give you an example. I brought my k9 sport in october/november on a 58 plate:

brand new, black, acumen cat 1 alarm (supposidly £300), R&G's, R&G paddock bobbins, and a motrax paddock stand rear, for £4300 otr! oh yes and the free restrictor kit.

I thought this was a pretty good deal, being my first bike and being on a restricted licence.

The dealer was steve jordan motorcycles, was a hard deal to get but we all agreed in the end.

After service is top notch aswell, brought a hugger and gel seat off them aswell and given £5-20 discount on each of the products.

give em a shout if you nearby.

I was tempted by a red 06 pointy on the bay at the mo for £1900 or best offer. Few scratches and needs the fork lowers polishing and a good service. Probably need a new chain & sprocks too. But with a 2006 pointy at that price, makes me wonder why I've spent £1200 on my 99 curvy (apart from maybe my weird confidence in carb'd bikes).

I only bought my SV new becasue I got the interest free deal, which meant I could afford to have a new bike.

If you get a deal like that then, if you think its worth it then go for it. But there are some nearly new bikes out there with hardly any mileage on them. I would bust some down on price for a second one, from a private sale. Take a mate with you who knows about bikes. If somone is desprate to sell, then they will.

However I wouldn't bother with an alarm, mine has been a pain in the ****. I have garage and mine are locked away in there. But a dam big chain, will do more I would have though.

just dont buy new.

My SV was £4.5k with R+G's, GAP but that was 18 months ago. NOw i'd be looking at paying £4.2k if that but i did go 0%.

Friend of mine at Bevan's in cardiff got offered £4.4k brand new for an SV and walked away i think it was end of november.

I bought my sv650sk5 new 3 years ago ,got it for 3750 which included 2 years servicing free ( worth 300 - 400 ish) , 2nd hand stuff were about 3kfor 6 month old bike so I thought the deal was good enough to warrant buying new.
First new bike ever and it was great feeling , esp being able to run it in properly .
It depends on how long u are going to keep bike for , also this was not my first bike .

Have bought 2nd bikes from Knotts before and have always been good.
good luck with your search

cheers Steve

Have got K9 Sport models in Black and Blue (the one with white stripe) for £4399 and a K8 in the lush dark grey for £4199 (best deal), all with the first service labour free, years tax etc etc.

The K9 now retails alot more than the K5-7 models did so the days of £3500-£3900 etc are gone unless Suzuki do a reg or cash back bonus scheme like they did last year.

Got the Gladius comming in soon too...:smt040
