not interesting? I thought not.
I'm going to start issuing press notices whenever I break a fingernail.
Yet you still brought it to our attention. :rolleyes: :lol:
When you give out that press release, make sure you forward it to me. I'll call you an ambulance. :D
Yet you still brought it to our attention. :rolleyes:
indeed
there tends to be a lot of crap in the news, but why deos it all get posted on here?

Idle Banter For non SV and non bike related chat (and the odd bit of humour...
define:idle -> not in action or at work; "an idle laborer"; "idle drifters"; "the idle rich"; "an idle mind"
define:banter -> Good humoured, playful, typically spontaneous conversation; To engage in banter or playful conversation; To play or do something amusing;
define:chat -> an informal conversation.
I rest my case. :takeabow:
It is irrelevant tripe yet is published as people read it and in turn discuss (like posting it on bike forums) then other people comment (like me). It is therefore my fault that Peaches Geldof is in the press. B*llocks

OK, let me made my point clearer. I wish the BBC woudl stop wasting my license fee reserching and publishing drivel like this.

But the BBC prides itself on issuing 'non news stories'

BREAKING NEWS
Matt filled up with petrol on thursday night BEFORE his fuel light came on. Shock horror as he realises he could have done another day's commuting before refilling.
But the BBC prides itself on issuing 'non news stories'
That's what we pay the licence fee for isn't it? :rolleyes:

I'm not knocking the bbc news site at all, in fact it is in my good books since I found this randomly a couple of days ago http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_west/7874406.stm
Beautiful fuel for my dissertation muahaha. :-D
I would have to agree I couldn't give a to$$ about Miss Geldof though :rolleyes:
It's just more news about people who are famous for being famous.
On the other hand, CoolGirl saying "No, I've had enough thank you" when offered a fourth cream cake of the day would be news.....
;)

So why post the link with no explanation? Everyone clicks on it to see what the fuss is about. The BBC then sees the hit counter rising and believes that people DO actually care.
If you're not interested, ignore it.

BB junior has had dealings with Peaches and pronounced her a wast of space.I see she is still wasting space in the form of non event "news".

blah blah celebrity blah blah
[rant mode on] Who f***ing cares? Got to agree with CG. The BBC wastes far too much of our licence fee on this sh*t! Jade Goody this Branjelina that...I really couldn't care less what they do or don't do. The Beeb has even started to do those really annoying 60 second 'showbiz' updates I thought belonged on the dumbed down channels. [rant mode off]
That is all!

True. However Idle Banter on this forum does not mean go to the BBC web site each morning and start a thread about the top 5 stories.

But specifically on this subject Cool Girl makes a good point. Why the hell do they report as news these non events?

Why not? If you feel a discussion based on a particular story makes for interesting debate then I don't see the problem. Or if it's just to put a smile on someone's face, can't be a bad thing surely?

Why not?
Because oddly enough this is a bike forum, not a discuss the days events forum. There is an option at the bottom of each BBC news story to comment on the event that is being reported.

I would though agree with you that some stories do make for a good debate, and I occasionally enter them. The point I was making was regarding the quantity. Sometimes I have entered Idle Banter and thought I was on the BBC news site.
