I am gonna get a new phone and contract sometime soon. So I'm going to get one of these mobile deals, there are some fairly good deals but I need money to go to Paris more than anything. So to do this, I am thinking about getting a deal with a free 80gb PS3, a TV or an Xbox.

I'm not breaking an rules selling them on, on here is it? Am I?

Who'd be interested in buying off me one of the above mentioned...

Stu

Leave it with me, I may be able to boil that down a bit. Will see. They seem to be going for £280+, may just be looking in the wrong places.

I too would be interested in a PS3 at a cheap price - but wouldn't want to pay more than £200 for one (I appreciate it's new and would fetch more than that but I couldn't pay that for it at the mo!).

Nothing illegal about it though!

Plowsie - you will pay for it (PS3 or whatever) somewhere down the line, either through monthly rental or premium ppm rates.

Just make sure you actually get the console. Have heard of a lot of people who went for those type of newspaper deals and never got the console. Happened to my sister

My contract was up for renewal last july so I went for one of these deals.
Got the wii,a samsung tocco,50 quid cash back and free insurance for 3 months.
I was with voda prior to renewing and wanted to keep my number so I was sorted out a tarrif (the same one I already had) and I stayed with voda, just through a different provider.

The wii took a month to come through as was stated in the contract and I sold the fone on Fleabay for 300 quid.

I was a little worried as it all sounded too good to be true but it went smoothly enough with no hastles so the mrs did the same thing and got a laptop.

Depending on what deal you go for (handset and gift), sometimes the rental does go up as already stated but in both our cases we got something for nothing. :)

Well i thought that when i got mine. But the PS3 was free - so was the phone. It comes with a 12 month contract for 25 a month. 12 times 25 is £300 - roughly the price of a PS3. So either the phone and all you mins are free - or the PS3 is free. I can't see a catch - unless u stay with them more than 12 months.

The monthly rates being offered to me are a lot better than what I curently pay for my N73 and iPod Touch.

I went through "dialafone" which I think is part of carphone warehouse.

Plowsie. Just look at the economics of this here.

There's no such thing as a 'free' PS3. You're just paying for it over the term of your contract. SO you're effectively paying for a PS3 over the course of 18months, whilst taking the 'hit' of resale value.

If you're that short of cash I'd just opt for a low interest overdraft. It'll work out cheaper and you won't have the hassle of selling etc.

Paris isn't cheap at all, never-mind with the current Euro exchange rate. If you're that skint I'd sack in the idea, rather than be there skint for a few days. You won't be able to do much otherwise, and you'll just nail yourself financially.

Hey mate

Not short of cash, can live happily, but to chunk out some money for a holiday or something could put me short for the month. I've been to Paris before mate and know the risks of prices there :) £250 for 2 nights worth is fine :) Flights for two of us and stay for 2nights is just over £300.

We'll see.

As long as you're not just digging yourself in to massive debt then

But no, it's not illegal at all.

how about the old pnone?Hovis, you are so tight., Just go and buy a new phone ffs.

Oh and Plowsie, make sure you get a good deal on the phone. Most of them are 18 month contracts and possibly 24 month contracts and the tariffs are not he cheapest or have the best inclusive deals. Over the term you end up paying for the PS3 anyway, just be aware. The old phrase is...if it looks to good to be true, it is!

Those laptop deals are a rip off. You get basicaly a £400 laptop and end up over the 2 years paying in excess of £800 or there abouts!

It sounds like a good idea in theory but you might struggle to get £250 for a PS3, you can buy a new one with a game for £269 from argos at the moment.
