So are they going to stop the girl guides and Scouts parading too?
Well i always connect these particular groups in society with the St Georges Day parade.....I've played in bands enough on them

I'm sorry, but didn't they hear we're in a recession?

Racial issues or not, why should the council have to foot the bill for this parade?

If they want a Parade, raise the cash themselves.

Nah, the Scouts got wise years ago and in the Scout Promise they can substitute whatever fits to the god part like so

On my honour,
I Promise I will do my best,
To do my Duty to [insert Diety here] and to the Queen,
To help other people,
And to keep the Scout Law

At least the last time I was required to learn it that was the case.

It now looks to be the case that the word used should be God but that it should be taken that God can mean whatever the child believes in.

Well said Baph, Council has not banned the parade just said it will not be funding it.

I went to girl guides once when I was a kid... Just once. As soon as I saw that all the achievement badges you could get were for crap like cooking, sewing, cleaning, etc, I told mum they weren't for me.

St George's Day is celebrated by several nations, kingdoms, countries, and cities, of which Saint George is the patron saint, including England, the old kingdoms and counties of the Crown of Aragon in Spain - Aragon, Catalonia and Valencia; Portugal, Georgia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Macedonia, and the city of Moscow in Russia, Genova in Italy, Ljubljana in Slovenia, Beirut in Lebanon, and many others.
Ooops, looks like the racist people need to rethink about St George's day!

Its not been cancelled, just the funding from the council, because in the past it has been infiltrated by far-right organisations. Baph and the +1 others have it exactly correct, why should the council fund it anyway? Most of the councils in the W.Mids have serious issues that need dealing with before a St.Georges day parade.

Sorry, I don't get it?
