Well she has been off sick since September 2007, on half pay, then income support only when her pay & SSP stopped, then back on half pay with income support whilst they try to find her a new job.

The occupational health doc has said she can never return back to the wards and must be re deployed, the job centre keep demanding monthly interviews to see how they can help her get back into work despite already having a job.

So today they have phoned and offered her a 4 week trial on the Orthopaedic assessment/treatment centre. 3 weekdays only/week. She is over the moon that her 18months at home may be coming to an end.

I just hope she is up to it and the hospital really understand the limits of her abilities. hopefully this will give her the confidence to start regaining her life.

Yippee. All she now has to do is convince occy health she is fit to return, convince her doc to sign her off fit. Explain to the benefits people she is only on a trial and may not able to complete it into a full return etc.

There is now light at the end of the tunnel, she now has a reason to get herself better and stop moping about what has happened, what is going to happen etc.

Tim, not sure of the circumstance as to why your wife was off but you sound very pleased at the prospect of her returning to work.
Hope everything works out well.

Fingers crossed and very best of luck to her. The NHS has a responsibility to help her back into work and into a job she can cope with.... is the "improving working lives" directive.

That is superb news and I really hope it all pans out for her.

It was also so sweet of you not to mention any thoughts what-so-ever of your dark and secret hope that with her out and about more, with the focus of work again in her life, you won't be subjected to quite so many pressure of the decorating/DIY/home improvement variety. ;)
