As some may know the 404 has a truely pants headlight, I fitted a Yamaha one which was about twice as good and in general I'm happy with it, got hold of a small twin projector setup and was going to mod that to fit in the current housing.

Original unit and Yanaha replacement

the projector unit I was going to use

Change of plan, not using the projectors anymore, I'm happy with the other headlight I fitted, and Mrs Rictus treated me to some nice shiney spotlamps (Birthday coming up and all that) so I made up a light bar instead, not quiet finished yet as I don't have a relay for the main lights, but Angel eyes wired in to the sidelight circuit and the neutral to the mains, (also the switched live when I done the LH switchgear change) so a simple job when I get hold of a suitable relay.

this is the basic spotlamps H3 55w 4" (I got four, you know just in case... ;D ).

And here two are fitted to a length of ex-dinningroom chair leg.

Angel eyes and spots wired seperately, but combined into a single loom, I utilised and old Triumph plug and socket so they would be easily detatchable.

First fit to see how they'd look, not fixed in place yet.

Not happy with the angle as the spot mounts don't depress anymore, so fabricated some brackets to extend forwards and bend down.

Fairly happy with the results so far, will update when finished.

Cheers Mark.

Will the alternator handle it?

Personally I'd be tempted to not bother and just find one small projector that would take a HID capsule.

yeah the alternator is within spec for both the 55w spots, the angel eyes are led's so virtually no draw at all.

Unlike HID's on bikes these are perfectly legal.....................;)
