ok i want to rant and rave about WD40 sad i know but i just cant get my head around it.
as i see it WD40 is a degreaser/cleaner and is used to help penetrate rust but how can some like this be used as a lubricant if it degrease's.
am i missing something or have the makers of WD40 developed a super lubricant that is better than all the other types of grease out there?
maybe its the lack of sleep but i hate the stuff:smt019
all the best

It does degrease, but it leaves a film of WD40 in its place...which can be lubricant. You can't replace grease with it, as I think it will dry up too quickly and is probably too thin.

It is a water dispersant. it does not degrease as well as a purpose designed degreaser. It does not penetrate as well as a penetrating oil, it does not lubricate. It is the most misused product on the market.
I use it to give my tools a spray over in the cold garage before I close the tool box drawers. and spray over damp HT leads

I keep a tin handy for when a mate complains about a poor starting bike after it has been left in the hedge for half a year , a whiff of it when firing up the bike can work wonders ........ generally I wouldn`t even use it on my Mountain Bike .

Have to agree with Timwilky there. The WD in the title actualy stands for Water Dispersant. I use it more to clean with than anything (great on engines) and spray on electricsto keep the damp out.
Again as Tim says, good for cleaning off your tools aswell.

it has low level acids that rots the ******** off your bike, common misconception is that it contains water

I am convinced it`s not great with rubber either , had a hose split on one bike and that was wiped down and made shiny with WD , and a mountain bike tyre went funny years ago after a smidge of WD got on the sidewall . I steer clear of it as a rule nowadays .

Don't be sad, you can still have a 2 letter-2 digit-1001 uses spray in your life and one that really does lubricate to boot.
Welcome to the wonderful world of GT85! :)
Still not a replacement for grease.

what is it with this missing letters thing on the text editor!:smt019
Oh come on how can anything smell better than WD40... I used to use it by the gallon on my spit - love the stuff. Deserves it's name of Liquid God as far I'm concerned...
But (as you find on all the triumph sites...) how can the most useful thing in the world (the Wd40) come with the most useless thing in the world (the red straw)...
(Oh and I don't grease with it either... That's what grease is for...)
