Hi

Ordered a 20mm jack-up kit from http://www.cjaccessories.co.uk/ but when I got it it was longer than the standard dog bones. So I sent it back and asked for the right part but they have sent them back saying that the kit was a jack up kit and if the kit is longer then the ones I have on there must be an even higher jack-up kit. I'm not sure that I believe this.

Upon closer inspection it seems that the dog bones that are on there have 20F stamped into them as you can see in the picture. They are 2mm shorter than the 20mm jack up kit. So are the dog bones that I have on there already jacking it up by like 40mm? I don't suppose anyone knows what the standard distance is eye-to-eye on the stock dog bones?

I got a lowering kit for my bike and the dog bones i bought were a tiny bit shorter than my standard ones, the way i see it works is smaller dogbones are pulling the bike down whereas bigger ones are pushing the bike up, i dont think it works by shorter ones jacking it up if you know what i mean?

to jack the bike up, you have shorter bones, to lower it they is longer

So it seems that the 20F stamp confirms that I have the standard suzuki dog-bone

Sorry but that's incorrect for the curvy SV. shorter bones raise, longer bones lower.

So in summary. The guy at CJs accessories is mistaken. I'm going to email him back and attach the pictures and a link to this thread.

Thanks for the help everyone. Sterling work as always!

So perhaps the other way round on the pointy?
This subject confuses me xD

I would have a set made if I knew the correct dimensions (hint). I guess the dog bones would have to be 2mm shorter for a 20mm increase in ride height? (dog bones I have are 2mm longer and lower the bike 20mm)

Just read somewhere that changing the dog bones is illegal in Bemsee minitwins. Not that I'm a racer though. Interesting.

Just had an apology from CJ Accessories as it turns out they sent me the kit for the pointy not the curvy.

I posted a link to this thread and explained why I was pretty sure they were wrong and he was very apologetic. They're sending me out the ocrrect kit today.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Nice when they sort it without trying to blame somebody else. We all make mistakes, it's how you resolve them is the really important thing.

Good news. :)

Basically if you imagine where the bottom of shock is, when you put longer bones on it adds distance between the two points that are secured, i.e the bottom of the shock and the swingarm.
if the bones are shorter then you are lifting the shock up higher hence, jacking it up?

Hope that helps!!!
