Why do they make a damn fine sounding twin sound like a screaming and (imo) bland IL4? SIGH! Here, Yes man had a hypermotard on (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBdGlNtB9EM)... WHY!? :rolleyes:
Its happened in a lot of films, she's the man, Oceans 12... and many other films im sure. Sigh. So annoying.
Should be done like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESMW6ltrO7w) (from 1.20 onwards). Mmmm. :twisted:

There's is a part where he mounts the pavement and it momentarily sounds like a twin.
But that's very poor
One of the Terminators films - kid on obvious 4 stroke motocrosser - 2 stroke sound dubbed over the top ....
Transformers - Army bloke on a Aprillia or some other large v twin - 4 cylinder dubbed over the top ....

Because, for argument's sake, I'm the director and I know how I want the bike to look and I know how I want it to sound for the purpose of the film, and it's not my fault if the product on the shelf doesn't fit the bill.
Hint: These are entertainment films, not documentaries.

doesn't matter if they are for entertainment or not. They pay people a fortume to get the effects right, and someone can't getthe finer details right?

It sounds to me like they are getting the finer details of the effects right, as far as the film is concerned. It's just the anoraks who get upset because the effects don't sound like the real thing.
I mean, seriously, you guys are complaining because in Terminator 2 and Transformers the bikes didn't sound like they do in real life. Wah wah wah. Both films featured TALKING KILLER ROBOTS, ffs!

This I actually take issue with. I find the best thing in fantasy films is to willingly suspend disbelief about ONE fact, then have the rest as realistic as possible. For instance:
In zombie films, if you pretend that zombies are real, then you want to see a film about how humans would tackle the threat seriously. Not a film where the humans then use magic to fight the zombies as then the whole film turns into a farce!
Anyway, that's the way I see it; admittedly it has little bearing on the motorbike noises point...

Do you reckon out there on www.keyringenthusiasts.com there's a thread on their forum about how it would be impossible for the little chinese man in the matrix to remove a key so easily from a split ring keyring, and the thread is descending into an argument into precisely which type of split ring he's using???

You're so right. The reason Pulp Fiction was a better film than Transformers was because a chopper sounded like a chopper.

I never said that was the reason it's a better film.
Someone was lazy though weren't they. If you're left asking a question (however trivial), that you shouldn't have to be asking, someone didn't do their job very well.

Worlds fastest indian at the pictures. That noise was amazing, it made the hairs on the back of kneck stand up when he is thrashing it down the salt flats... Imagine if they screwed that sound up with an IL4 scream :rolleyes: :p

In 'World's Fastest Indian', the bike was at the very heart of the story and to get that wrong would have been a huge error.
