Had no choice buying the first curvy...it belonged to Im Indoors. There was only one way to go when I bought the second bike.....the right way, curvy  i used to joke I wanted one of every colour.
The first bike i looked at was a black curvy but i could'nt get away with the look of the front fairing, so went and got loads of debt and an awesome pointy :p

and whats wrong with a black curvies front fairing?....:smt019
....apart from the fact that they are as rare as rocking donkey poo and almost impossible to replace when you've fallen off:(

Look at the top right of this page, the two bikes head 2 head.
The left one is a Curvy, the one on the right is a Pointy and is the best.

Good looking and modern = pointy
Old fashioned and blobby = curvy

cool, I have a pointy, the one I prefer out of the 2.
The tank on the pointy makes it look like a Quasimodo bike all hunch backed with irregular lines. Just out of proportion and no elegance to it.
I have to admit when looking at bikes before taking my test i hated the look of curvy's and much preferred the shape of the pointy, but when i actually got round to looking at bikes i fell in love with my curvy (altough i have never seen a pointy up close). I like them both equally, but the pointy does tempt me as i wouldnt have to bother with the choke giving me problems on a cold morning!

not sure what the point of your question is, but I liked them both in different ways.

To estalbish if many people have used both and whether if they had a curvy then a pointy, would they go back to a curvy, and vice versa obviously.
Just reply with your opinions really.

They're both bikes at the end of the day... I had a CG125 before SV and I would go back to that if funding and availability meant I had to... before the CG was an EXUP and that would be fine too.
Ride whatever you can, if I trashed my curvy and there was a pointy available cheap enough... I'd have it to hack around on. I wouldn't want to keep hold of a fuel injected bike for too long though.

wassat?
(by engine ,I mean the fuel system lark - didn't know you could have a different fuel system but an identical engine if that is the case)

You can put carbs on a pointy easily enough as far as I am aware. Far easier than the other way around.

I have a pointy- don't like the shape of the curvy, I think they look dated.

Fancy doing it for a tenner and some beer. What else goes wrong on pointies that can be corrected?

About the same really.
Yeah ok, you will need carbs, a load of custom wiring, a CDI unit, an alternator, maybe a rotor, carb boots, airbox (if it will fit), if not then a load of plastic padding or some pods and monster main jets...

I had a curvey, Liz has a pointy that I've ridden plenty of miles on. I've also ridden several different pointy SV's whilst the dealer had my curvey.
I prefer the pointy...
i had a curvey lovurly bike she was too just a bit cramped for me so bought a pointy naked and it's ace the new un feel's a bit stronger and more eager than the old engine i think too me both great bike's though i'll not say a word against either.

I prefer pointies myself :smt019
tbh i prefer the bike curvy look's wise just think it has better line's and it look's like a bigger bike especially with oem fairing's on em.

Its funny me and SmudgeK3 were chatting about this over autosol today, he seems to think his nakid pointy looks tiny, somebody asked him if it were a 250...lol
He also said my black one is the best faired curvy hes ever seen:cheers:
i like how you chatted over autosol take it that's being used to attack the downpipe's ;) and yeah the curvy's seem bigger somehow not as tall though must be the fairing's bulk it up a bit.
Until I learned about Coolgirl just now, the only person I know to own both is Devil Biccy.
They are such different looking bikes that it is very unusual for someone to own both. not to mention a beginners bike so people tend to move on to different things unless they are just besotted with the SV & there's no way they would consider changing from one to the other.

Roads, women and SV's....the curvy ones are always the best.
Curvys rule!!!
But let's get a professional opinion.
Let's ask world class rider E-Boz (Eric Bostrom) and see what he says...

There all sorted.
Curvy's rule...no question.

Maybe a project for the future lol
I've started taking a liking to pointys after seeing more of them (and oggyplonks)...also starting to love the gsxr after seeing orose's.
I have a curvy S, I had a pointy naked for a few months while mine was being insurance assessed, both are cool. I'm not a huge fan of the pointy S, but have ridden one or two, and my curvy is now naked but with clip-ons.
Good things about the curvy - carbs, can turn lights off, looks
Good things about pointy - no carb icing, a lot younger and therefore probably much less rusty/broken than mine.
