Do you ever get it. For no fathomable reason and despite the fact I cant afford it. I find myself wandering if I want to change my bike.

Theres no reason behind it. I'm really happy with my GSXR, It does everything I want and is a better bike than I'll ever be a rider, yet I find myself walking around bike dealer's looking at a new stead. I'm quite taken with the new 2009 big bang R1 having seen a few pics and heard a clip of the engine running.

Its one of the few bikes I like out of the current crop of Sports Bikes. I caught myself looking at R1100 boxer twin in fowlers the other week as well as a beautfiul 999R. I even have developed a sweet spot for the Yamaha MT01. I know I'd regret getting rid of the GSXR if I did chop it in for something else though...

I think its not being able to ride induced boredom...

Wow Fizz can't believe you started this thread before I did!
Yup entered the competition for the R1 then started thinking about what I would do if I won it. Then was reading in Ride about all the best bikes, like T595, 999R or SP1.
but the best solution for me was riding a CBR400 at the weekend which made me appreciate my own bike so much more (plus with an oil change it's running particularly sweet).
I don't know what it is that I just can't be satisfied, when I should be because my ZX is just perfect.

I've got itchy feet now my bikes super shiny after todays scrub a dub dub.
Only thing is when me and matt get itchy feet about bikes, a new one comes in, and none of the others get out.

XTRA RAPTOR...that is all :-)

All the time me. I think it's cos bikes are updated so often (superbikes and supersports especially) and as they are much more affordable to start with compared to any car I would want, second hand they are much much more affordable. For instance I love the underseat R1's (not the 2009 version) and not so long ago decent second hand ones were out of my budget, but now there's loads of really low mileage, decent second hand ones available that I could actually afford. Thus to itchy feet all the time :(

Just like you Fizz - but I am very happy with my D675. It was in Wylies having its seized exup valve sorted under warranty Saturday, I wandered round like a kid in a toy shop - which is a fairly accurate description I suppose. But when the bike was ready I didn't spare anything a second thought. Except the bargain Triumph leather jacket which I left behind - £150 reduced from £250 but I'd like it cheaper than that!

I think its not being able to ride induced boredom...

It's definitely worse in winter... after I got rid of my ZX7 last October, I told myself I'd save up all winter and then maybe, just maybe think about another bike sometime around May/June.

Then I went out in January and bought my VFR.

This was more of a leisure garment - softer leather, no armour, although you can buy it separately for more £££. I wouldn't normally wear a 'proper' bike jacket unless on the bike as I think that you look a right dork.

Constantly, but my recent crash has put a few dents and scratches that are not worth replacing parts for, which I'm going to have to live with, but it also means I'll get buttons when I sell the bike as it looks a bit tatty, so I'm going to keep it and run it into the ground as a second bike/commuter.

So now my itchy bike feet need to find the first bike

Anyone got a spare 6 grand?

I do it all the time with cars, bikes, most things really.

It is boredom or frustration either at the vehicle or elesewhere in life and me needing to take my mind off it.

KTM990SM ZZR14 Griso Guz1200sport 1200GS MT-0S are the bikes that I think I will replace the GSX14 with, but its the same every year. "That would be nice etc." Its not turned a wheel since october and won't till end of March. As soon as I get out on it again I know all the above will be forgotten about!

In fact just going and looking at it does the job.

Must be love.:rolleyes::mrgreen:

Sods law has meant the times I've been able to afford to buy a second bike, circumstances have dictated it'd be silly to do so. For the type of riding/mileage I do at the moment, it'd be mental for me to buy a new bike and as my SV won't depreciate much further, it makes sense to run that into the ground instead. The three times I nearly bought a "working bike" early on in the SV's life (with the intention of keeping the SV nice/making it a weekend toy) they were all taken off the market before I could buy them.

The two bikes that have tempted me most are:
Triumph Street Triple - Probably my ideal "fun bike".
BMW F800GS - Superb working bike and the most confidence-inspiring bike I've ridden. If the BMW dealership was nearer, I wasn't doing so much hacking up and down the motorway and I had a garage at both addresses, I'd buy one tomorrow.

At least you only have the 'mild' or 'lite' version of this ailment Fizz; it could be a lot worse . . .

. . . I'm at the point where I'm thinking about buying another bike to ADD to those I already have !!

IIRC - you currently have your GSXR & your old SV (plus of course Liz's bikes to 'play' with) ? If that's so, then there's plenty of room for a 3rd !!

Don't you like the 749 Fizz?

I've had my GSXR for 3 years at the end of next month, I sold my SV ages ago as I didnt enjoy riding it anymore and it was sitting festering in the garage.

Liz has 3 bikes

749S
SV
and a little Honda XLr 125

Garage is full up, no room for anything else, so cant really get another stablemate either... I do like the 749S and I'm on the insurance, we looked at upgrading to a 999S or 999R and having a toy we could both use, but I can just can't justify the cost versus BHP gain and I like the rev hungry nature of the 749S...

I think I'm just bored as I'm not allowed to ride until the Physiotherapist tells me I'm allowed to, my wrist is heailng and my hand is strong enough to pull the clutch in but I cant take alot of weight on my left arm still...

Glad to be of service.... Anyone else wants some fillings shaken out, or temporary hearing loss let me know...

Re New bike syndrome... was suffering but after a decent trip out I'm temporarily cured. I put it down to the winter lack of days out on 2 wheels.

Absence makes the heart go wander...so to speak.

I am 99% certain i'll get a new bike when I get my first year NCB. Love the SV but it is just so easy to change bikes....

With cars the price variance between decent and exotica is much greater than bikes. I'd never have say a 57 Cooper S (got) and hanker after a Porsche 911 Turbo but at the same time I have an SV and could theoretically get an 09 R1 if I reeeeally wanted it and didnt think I'd kill myself.

Perhaps totally obvious but probably the reason I am never satisfied re my bike.

I see your point, the price differential is much less, but the R1 isn't the Porsche 911 of bikes the BMW HP2 Sport is and thats lots more expensive! The R1 is more of a Subaru Impreza or something, it's not counted as exotica. The Ferrari 430 of bikes? Maybe a Ducati 1098. And the Pagani Zonda? The Desmosedici  and now your into silly money for the bike world!

ok, the 09 R1 isnt exotica I guess but its got to be classed in a higher bracket than a Scooby! Its 10K too to be fair. You follow my rationale anyhoos ;)

a higher bracket than a Scooby!

OK then, Mitsubish Evo. But only the 09 one, there 3 million 08's at every bike meet!
