...a couple of weeks back on a thread about some weirdo 'detailing' his Dyson, we joked about using hair shampoo on posh cars.....
...well I decided to have a giggle and try out some Herbal Essences Rainforest flower for dry and damaged hair on my black SV today:-D
Well I have to say its had the best wash its ever had:cheers: the damn shampoo might be carp on my hair, but it came up trumps on my paintwork. Usually with Autoglym or any other 'motor' shampoo, even after loads of rinsing with the hosepipe, I get white water marks and streaks all over it, today my black paint work didn't have a single mark on it, only needed a couple of buckets of rinse water thrown at it and it was super shiny before I even got the polish on it:p me and Smudge were laughing our socks off at the results.
I urge everybody to get rid of their unwanted hair shampoo by washing their bike in it:takeabow:
Thanks Kwak:mrgreen:

lol Smudge said when he came in the garden oooo something smells nice. Im Indoors said it not only looks like a tarts handbag, it smells like one. Then said I needed to put some perfume on the radiator, so everyone could smell my bike on the road...sily person :-)

washing up liquid is the biggest sin to wash a vehicle in. Its full o salts.
Never ever do it!
The streaking is a pain in the ass, it don't get noticed on my yellow one, but the black one shows up everything. I don't use cheap kack on my bikes, I'm astounded that Autoglym bike spray leaves residue everywhere, but herbal essences don't ;-)
I usually take 2 days to wash, clean and polish both bikes, I'm a bit of a OCD nut case!

i use a good car wax "simoniz" or simalair, and lynx for under the mirror stalks :)
bike spray oh is this the after wash stuff protectant stuff.take's me about a hour and a half to clean the bike to a good standard i don't polish my downpipe's though i like them brown left as my battle scars.

nope spray on, rinse off. Its not an after wash thing. Its particularly good for cleaning your chain and wheels with, and a long handled pot scrub from Ikea!
I shan't be using it on the rest of it again, fliipin not cheap wither
my routine is like this first mucc off(everybody say's it's **** but i does for clearing the road film) next merr shampoo with warm water clean the chain shamee off polish re lube chain scotoil it to death in copious amount's everywhere so far this method seem's to work wonder's for staving off rust and corrosion for me also i find a good cleaning session help's me check the bike over i do like washing my bike strange huh.

To me a good cleaning session goes like this...in summer.
wash bike, rinse bike, wash other bike, rinse other bike, leave to dry, walk em up n down the garden, disperse the water off the wheels and where ever else. Move the mirrors in and out, because they have a habit of collecting water and spoiling you polish when you put em away.
Polish all the bodywork on both bikes. Usually Autoglym super resin stuff. Put one bike away. Get the autosol out on fine wire wool, do the downpipe, and the rest of the link, but stop at the end can. Autosol on a cloth for that. Autosol the rims and forks, and anything else thats shiny(depending which bike) Scrub the chain and re lube. Tinker around the engine with WD40 and get reminded I forgot the starter motor again and the oil filter! The other bike gets done on day two. Occasionally i get the dremel out on the fastners and bolts if they are rusty, but i usually forget :-(
I think I need help :-)

If ever your two bikes are not enough to satisfy your fetish I can supply a third, and a car, and a house. ;)

lol, I already have a third and a fourth bike here, but last year there weren't enough dry days to fit them all in, in a week:o I did do the SRX once in the summer, YC and Im Indoors laughed so much at what looked like an Exxon Valdez oil spill all over my garden:twisted: its not something I'm keen on replicating. The VRaptor is awkward to get out on my own as that involves lifting the back end out of the corner its in, and I'm not too confident in myself to stop it falling if it did :( and as Im Indoors was recovering from a hip replacement most of autumn, it got very neglected, but i shall be trying to resurrect it this year:cheers:
There are others, but they are at his mums house. So I'l decline your offer of cleaning yours, the car and the house;)
