View Full Version : White goods....
My kitchen is slowly eating it's own appliances.
The oven went and I'm left with only a grill
Now the washing machine has just blown up!
Where are the best offers and sales at the moment?
I'm happy with (relatively) cheap and cheeful. Recommendations?
If the coffee maker dies I'm really up the creek!

Indeed, I have a chap that fixes my dishwasher for £20. Can do washing machines to - shame I live in N. Wales or you could have his number! :D
Yup I'm usually all for fixing and re-using but these are both pretty old. In fact the washing machine was second hand when I got it. I don't think in this case it would be worth it.
look on ebay and search for the nearest items to you. If not just go squeeze a deal out of some curries sales man for multiple purchases.
if all else fails get a argos card and bingo!!!

Interesting thanks. They seem to be cheap on washing machines but not at all on ovens

They do say that when one things goes bust, everything else seems to follow, must just be the week for it Messie! If you fix them they'll probably just break again, sometimes it's better to just fork out and get new stuff
A friend of mine swears by electrical123.com
I've not used it myself.

+1 on getting them fixed.
I've recently bought a Haier C1470TVEME-U from Comet, and it's excellent. Although you've never heard of them, they're the 4th biggest manufacturer of white goods in the world, apparently.
It's a decent wash load at 7Kg, with a 1400 spin speed, and cost me £219.99.
Absolutely 100% recommended.

I'd say go cheap if you don't use it a lot, but after 4 cheaper ones dying on us, we bought a Siemens 4 years ago, with a 10 yr guarantee, and it's not missed a beat yet.
We tend to do 2 loads a day though.

In the last 3 months our Washer/Dryer, Oven and Combi-boiler have all gone on the fritz.
Still thats the one advantage of renting - replacements came out of the landlords pocket :)
What is wrong with the washing machine. Ours stopped working. The dial to change to different programs just kept spinning round and wouldn't do anything. We called out the repair man who undid the drain plug at the bottom of the washing machine. Took out 2 one pence pieces and it worked fine after that.
