This morning I woke up to this:

http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh301/deathUK2003/DSCF1651.jpg

When I lifted it upright it ended up like this when it was originally parked perpendicular to the curb:

http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh301/deathUK2003/DSCF1652.jpg

It fell over the sidestand side?! And pivoted 45 degrees. This must mean that someone heaved on it from the rear end, throwing the rear over to the left from behind. The disc lock was still in the original position, so I don't think it was someone trying to wheel it off. Happened at night after 2am and before it started raining.

:( effing bar stards, why would they do that? Its so pointless. You can see where the side stand dug in, it was still balanced on it, it must have a taken a concerted effort. I haven't told the Police sadly, not much point as far as I can see.

H'mm I didn't think it was worth calling the Police, when some irkesome twonk kicked off the wing mirror of my car. But at least a crime number was recorded. The local bobby called on all my neighbours to see if anyone had seen anything too.

Didn't solve the crime, but at least some action was taken. He did offer to get the SOCO down to take any prints too.

So maybe worth considering, nothing to loose

Blimey Nick, you're having a run of bad luck.

Can't imagine it, but have you p1ssed off one of your neighbours recently?

The bane of modern life. Pointless vandalism and insufficient interest from the police. :(

Hope there's no real damage. Gear lever looks a bit bent, but at least your clutch lever is intact.

No it always looked like that. It's a naked pointy! :p

I know its in a giant cover, so there was no tarmac to scratch it on its fall, but to me it looks like someone purposely laid it on its side as a prank....just as theres no mirror broken or owt......feckin idiots! I'd have thought pushing it would have caused something to break.

Very true!

It does seem a very malicious thing to do, it couldn't just be a matter of two drunks having a bit of a tussle and banging into it...

Pete has it bang on, the gear lever is bent into the rod thing :(. The mirror and indicator was a bit bent, but its the gear lever that is now too bent to use :(. Does anyone have one spare? I'll list it in the wanted section.

Pete: I am friends with most of my neighbours, we live on a nice dead end road. It is near a main chav thoroghfare but they usually never come down our road. It does look rather intended to be random, but I always ride at 20mph in our residential bit, never rev my bike, and have my baffle in, so I can't have legitimately annoyed someone. :(

aaah I need to put me specs on :-(
It seems so infantile, its pretty wedged in between those cars to even warrant bothering with......time to get it in your living room ;-)

Well if you can't think off the top of your head what you could have done to annoy someone then there's no point thinking you have. It could just be a random thing, maybe even someone with a grudge against biking in general, jealousy, a number of things.

This kind of thing affects you more psychologically than owt else, you start treating everyone with suspicion and wondering who it was. Best thing would be to just forget about it and keep a close eye on it. Everyone runs these risks when parking their vehicle in public, you've just been unlucky :-(

It was kind of resting on the white car's bumper. Didn't seem to have taken a massive impact, but I don't think it was laid down.

That sucks, dude. Although at least it was cushioned by a Nissan Micra (they have a use!!!)

Maybe it was the person who nicked your tax frustrated at the fact that it expired!

I had thought that haha. Maybe someone is targetting my bike? If they are I wish they would actually nick it cos then at least I could claim!

Looks quite simple to me. I would have said a car has knocked it over whist trying to park.

On no evidence at all....I accuse the white nissan......

Bummer.

Both cars were there all night and didn't move. One is ours so I know that, and the other hasn't moved in about 2 months. I had though that maybe a car drove past and clipped my front wheel, but it would have really had to whack it to cause the back to spin round and over. Basically, someone did it. And I am staying up all tonight to hunt for them if they come back.

It's only a pointy. It would have been bad if it were a curvy. Get over it.

Come back and do what, knock it over again? Don't quite see the incentive to do it again, unless they were really trying to make a point. I wouldn't be leaving it on the road, it would be in the hallway or something :)

I don't see their incentive to do it in the first place! You've got to think like a criminal to catch them. I shall therefore be fornicating with my sister and smoking crack in the stairwell of Blackbird Leys tower block.

Usually I'd say "we need evidence", but in this case I think we'll take your word for it.

personally if it was me I would put a small motion detector camera by one of the windows facing the bike. link this to a PC (evidence) to catch anyone playing around by your bike. could it have been the micra driver?

Nick, when I come down next we'll go one the hunt and randomly beat those who we don't like the look of.

I cant stand people who f*ck with other people's stuff. Grrrr.

My vote is for a car giving it a whack on it's way past. That would've been quite hard to do wouldn't it? If it were malicious they could've just kicked the stand out or tipped it the other way much easier.

Car seems possible, but there is no eveidence of impact on the wheel, and to spin it over the sidestand would take a lot of force from a car and neither parked cars were hit. It really does seem like someone tipped it. It's ok, me and Dan will go and beat up some likely suspects when he next comes over it seems :)

At my Lidl today was a plug and play surveilance camera. It was 17 quid and had a scart lead that plugs into either a telly or recorder. Might be worth checking out your local Lidl. Won't stop them doing it but at least it will solve the mystery. :p

me reckons they were trying to nick it, they tried to pivot it around a bit to pull it out between the cars, lost it and ran off, or got disturbed.. if they were just up for mindless criminal damage they'd probably kick off a few wing mirrors rather than **** off a potentially big burly biker...

You sure that micra or KA didn't nudge it over when parking? they're pretty close!

Positive, one is my gf's which I parked there myself, and one hasn't moved for about 3 months.

I did think about nicking, but the disc lock hasn't moved, surely the first thing they'd do is try to wheel it a bit?

not necessarily.. it would only take 2 chunky chaps and a transit van to lift it..I'd bank that most bikes parked on the street either have disc locks or some sort of alarm tripped to the wheels. I wouldn't even bother wheeling it myself (if i was that way inclined of course..)
