View Full Version : Speedo problem.
Done a little search and done some reading, most i've read are for curvy's
Got a 650s K3 naked,on way to work realised speedo wasn't working, then all of a sudden started going up and down even when i was sat still i was doing 186 mph.
Rev counter working, odo working and clock working ok.
Is it likely to be the speedo rotor thing at the front wheel?
Or the sensor if it's the sensor is it a big job to do?
Thank for all the help and advice in advance.

Sounds like it, its not a big job to do but IIRC you have to take the front wheel out to fit the new rotor though. so you'll need a front paddock stand or something similar...
We've got a paddock stand, mate of mine changed his rotor
but his just went straight off the speed wasn't fluctuating like mine is.
That's why i'm asking the question?
Thanks for quick reply Fizzwheel.

When mine went, it did what yours is doing, weird speed readings and fluctuation. Then it stopped working completely...
Thanks mate that's made me feel better, might go out and order one then saves taking wheel off twice.
Firstly, the Curvy and Pointy SV models both share exactly the same speedo drive, from the front wheel.
What you've described is very likely to be a broken, or damaged rotor. It's a very fragile bit of kit, and can fracture and disintegrate with ease. Replacing it is relatively straight forward, if you have the equipment to remove the front wheel - but care must be taken to reassemble with all the parts in the right place, and fitted together properly.
When everything's apart, be sure to clean the speedo sensor, and re-grease before refitting.
Speedo problems, please help!

You know what they say, the ones who boast about size are the ones who are lacking!
