Is it still legal in the UK and if so where can it be bought?

I'm interested as I've just watched a programme which had a bit about it.

Just been watching the same programme, seems to have sent the presenter a bit off kilter having tried some of it ;)

not seen the programme, but as far as i know its still legal in the uk, best off going to a somali community as i think its most common with somalians. I used to employ quite a few somali's when I owned the recruitment agency and know they use to have it.......

Regular use may lead to insomnia (inability to sleep), anorexia and anxiety. In some cases it may make people feel more irritable and angry and possibly violent. Psychological dependence can result from regular use so that users feel depressed and low unless they keep taking it.

why the **** would you want to take anything that has this as side effects?

That is not good stuff. It's illegal in just about every European country and the USA will lock you up for a long time if you have it there.

I have noticed more and more people using it in the UK, it makes you aggressive and alters your perception. There is no regulation of how it is grown, stored and transported.

I recently had a massive scrap with a bloke high on the stuff who was driving around in Manchester City centre. He was tiny, but just would not give up. Tons of Khat stems in his car.

Not good, stay away

Id keep away from the stuff, its nasty and has some horredous side effects. Ive never tried it (drugs / smoking / alcohol are not my thing).

Why do you want to try it?

Dappa D is right, its heavily used amongst the somali community. One of my patients is somalian and chews the stuff day in day out. I refuse to do home visits alone now because he is really unpredictable. Even his own family are scared. You may be wondering why he hasn't been admitted back to hospital - I don't know myself.

No, I had, I just thought khat was taken by chewing the stuff. No intention to try it though.

checkout dandelion leaves. Apparently if you boil them up in some water, then simmer until the juices from the leaves turn into an oily residue, seive out all the leaves and stalks, simmer until becomes an even oilier residue, scrape this out and smear it all over your nipples.

You'll feel amazing for about 20 seconds, then you'll realise i'm making this up and you've spent ages trying to bend your consciesness, only to end up looking like some kind of horticultural pervert... find another hobby

I strongly doubt its any more harmful than the booze and fags us westerners consume.Indeed as it comes from a mainly muslim area I suspect its an alcohol substitute where real alcohol is banned.

According to the programme last night.... yes you chew it, and it is pronounced as "Chat", the woman presenter tried some and it sent her loopy. The local people just looked insane sitting there with a bunch of leaves chewing the stuff sitting along the roadside???

Outside shops in Somali areas. Not tried it myself, but been meaning to.
Smoked some 'spice' the other day - perfectly legal stuff. Certainly got me a bit high, but tastes horrible.

If you're worried about that, check what you buy at Tescos

Moderation is always the key. e.g. A quart of weed, with a quart of humbugs
