I run 36 front and 39 rear and am the wrong side of lots of stones as well ;)
Have run other pressures as well like 42 rear but found around the 40 mark was fine with no detrimental effects on cornering and tyre wear over the end of the summer and well into this winter , have had almost 6k from a rear tyre as well and I do 35 miles a day commute and have carried pillions as well . Manufacturers recommended is a good place to start , you will have a bench mark then to find what is best for you .

I used to think that they were run at higher than 36 r 33 front, but Lucky pants pm'd me and pointed out that in fact it was the above that was correct. It was when there was a lot of hoo harr about what the correct pressures were for them, Avon themselves at one point put on their website a higher pressure, but have since (thanks LP for pointing) put it back to 36 r 33 front. Only go what the Tyre manufacturer states for your tyre , not what other people say.
Funnily enough i checked mine yesterday, last time I went to the tyre man they must have been slightly warm, i had to let over 10 psi out of both tyres that he'd put in:eek:, no wonder my bike handled crap!
