My brother Simon is building a 3D model of the 2nd Gen SV650. It could be useful if anyone here would like a platform to further modify and see how the bike looks after modifications. If you think this is a good idea please post here. I'll keep you posted with the latest renders...

wicked!
Can this be sent as a .STEP file, or a .IGES file?

if so im interested in having a copy to play around with.

the reason i ask is i use an Engineering 3D pakage, ProEngineer.

Ok, to answer some questions...
True curvies are harder to model. I've started that ages ago on 3DSmax then I stopped using that and migrated to Cinema 4D since 3DS is not available for my work computer (mac), so now I'm modelling it on Cinema. Got the tank ready, the frame and forks if I remember correctly. Once Simon finishes his model I guess we can just change the tank and plastics and Voila we have a curvy as well. So must continue on mine I guess since there's interest!

My bro uses 3DSmax

I've never heard of .step or .iges
Maybe you could find a file converter program?

Converter program -hah!

I use Rhino3d - can input or output ANY of those file types :)

Also is fully NURBS based.

However I am trying to get the time to learn/convert over to Blender.

I've got this file for those of you who use Sketchup. You can convert it to use in other programs but Sketchup is a bit low poly and it sort of renders strange. Can be used as a quickie though...

I see we have a strong 3D, C4D community here! Am a Mac C4D too :D

would be sweet to get it to this level of detail! part by part :D

Great, good foundation for getting the scale & proportion right!

Cheers

the step and iges files are like universal 3D CAD files of models. but may not be the case with 3D studio max etc. it is for ProEngineer, Inventor and Solid Works etc.

I could model a working model of a V-twin and make it move then we could stick it into your whole bike assembly!!....just need the time! haha

Looks great.

I'm actually in the process of learning Maya myself at the moment.

Didnt think to ask if anyone else on here may be into that kind of work.

Sorry to bring up an old thread. Any development of this model? I would really appreciate a copy:thumright:

Hi rich080487. Seems like you're a new member here, so welcome mate! Eh, I'm sorry to say that I don't think we actually made a lot more progress on the SV model I'm afraid. We sort of moved on to other things. My brother got involved into movie post production stuff and Adobe Premier and I sort of got more involved into traditional illustration and art. I must say that since my accident about 2 months ago I started to re-learn a bit of 3D again. I prefer to use cinema 4D as it works both on my mac at work and on my pc laptop which is great. Having said that I'll ask my brother if he could send me his latest model and link it here as soon as I can ok. If you guys are interested on more talk on the subject of 3D, illustration or other graphic stuff look me up on facebook as Stephen Spiteri. You'll see my mug so know it's me :)
