View Full Version : YZF750 fuelling issue

I have a problem with the YZF. I do not have any reserve. By this I mean when the fuel light comes on to let me know I am nearing the reserve supply, I switch the fuel switch to reserve but the bike is not receiving it.

I know for fact there is fuel in tank. I was told something today that does not seem to ring true with me but I am ready and waiting to be proved wrong.

When I turn the ignition switch on I can hear the fuel pump whine into action as you would expect. It then goes quiet and I start the bike. Thing that I was told was that with the fuel switch in the on position, the fuel pump is actually off and the fuel is gravity fed. When the fuel light comes on and I switch the fuel switch to reserve, this is when the fuel pump comes into play and pumps the reserve fuel.

This really does not seem to ring true with me. But as I said, I am ready to be proved wrong. Anyone idea's? I will be taking a poke tomorrow at some stage. It would be handy to have a few places to think about.

Cheers

Thanks very much.

I think the issue is sorted and all it took was a bit of WD40 in the switch. :D
