lol i just realise i'd posted in the wrong forum my bad!!! as for pics errrm i won't subject you to my ugly mug
Lie on your back - shove a cold spoon down your back/bottom of neck - so you are resting on it. Hold a couple of ice cubes on the bridge of your nose - if all else fails seek proper medical advice/assistance. eeeeek...

I used to get really bad nose bleeds all the time. Don't worry much until it's been bleeding for about an hour!

Are you on aspirin or heparin? Do you have high blood pressure? It's prob just a blood vessel burst but if it doesn't stop, phone NHS 24.
Bah. I hate nosebleeds. I get them all the time :(
Used to get really bad ones all the time. Went to hospital once - they gave me a cheap recycled NHS version of a bucket to bleed in. Thanks.
Suffered for years, had it cauterized on numerous occasions, nothing really worked but eventually they became less frequent then cleared up entirely.
The advice i can give is pinch the nose to stem the blood flow. Don't tip the head back or it all runs down your throat (grim). Once the bleeding has stopped, leave it for a while then very gently blow the nose to remove the huge blood clot that will have formed. Don't sneeze unless u want your walls redecorated.

Dunna worry about it unless it bleeds for more than 3 hours :D. I got sent home from school once due to a nosebleed, 2 hours it had lasted for when they called my mum and asked her to come pick me up :smt041

pinch nose just below the boney bit and head forward - dont put your head back or your gargle your own blood and can theoretically drown you. (not sure if that was red cross first aid man trying to scare me when I was younger) As for the length of time it is bleeding - if it gushing out you may want to go sooner than later if its just a dribble later is OK but after a couple of hours I would see someone professional about it.
makes mental note to self to adjust list of possible places to call......
dial 999
visit local A&E at hospital
visit local NHS pop-in centre
local GP
NHS direct
or if I really cant be ar$ed.......pop a new thread onto sv650.org
I had a nose bleed every day for 5 weeks over Christmas, and both my doctor and the nurse that I saw said that High Blood Pressure does not cause nose bleeds.
Mine was caused by an ulcer in my nose that had got infected. Bit of cream and all sorted now.
