View Full Version : Where to cut?
Hello,
I've recently bought a Beowulf silencer and was hoping to fit it to my ('05) SV650S this weekend, but with no instructions I'm not sure where to cut the exhaust pipe. I've had a look around on t'internet and there has been mention of cutting 2"/50mm up from the original weld but can anyone confirm that? Also, is this position of the cut the same for any aftermarket 'slip-on' type cans?
Any advice would be much appreciated, I'm clueless!
Just after where it would be not far enough and just before where it would be too far.

not sure as I cut my link pipe 50mm from weld and then the rest of it just came off but all seems to work well.

That's about as true as can be!
45-50mm seems to be about the right measurement.
thanks all, I'll take the hacksaw to it tomorrow and see how it goes....

If that's really true then it needs to be said because it actually has been done a differnt way
Cut it square to the pipe (don't slash cut your pipe  )
just did mine last week, and it is 50mm as the guys above have said, you can go 10mm either way and it wont hurt according to Beowulf.
All done!
It was a lot quicker than I'd thought, thanks again for the help.

Right on the money ;)

Thanks for the reply. I only twigged after I cut the pipe that the 50mm is just to give enough overlap for the link pipe to butt up against the original weld, I'd guess it'd be the same for any brand. All good fun.

Yes, but were you any help? :???:
