Has anyone upsticks and gone to Spain or know of anyone who has as I'm trying to find how much it cost

My other half has just done this for a "friend" who is now quibbling over the cost to the extent of not wanting to give enough money for the return leg let alone funding the one down there - ok rant over!

The journey was Manchester to Murcia, Spain via Dover Calais - 3000miles roughly as a round trip
A van was hired carrying about a ton of household stuff

Thanks for your help

Not quite the same, but Anna (from the .Org) moved from London to Portugal not that long ago. Though I don't know what she's taken with her.

If she hasn't seen this thread by the time I cross paths with her, I'll try remember to point her at it. :)

If your not planning on coming back. Rent a van/7.5 tonne lorry and don't bring it back!!! :-D

I've driven it about 3 times now, once by merc sprinter (rented) and twice in the car.

Transporting "moving" items for the parents.

Memory is hazy on the sprinter in terms of cost of refuel etc, but I would have budget about £1.5k for the trip.

£400 for the van rental (2 weeks)
£200 for euro tunnel (guess it was around £100 each way)
£400? Fuel (unsure but it was about 4 tanks 1 way)
£x? Toll (they have a load of toll roads, one had about 3 men in 200 meters lol)

Obviously price depends on exchange rate, route, rental costs etc. (We also stayed overnight in N. Spain, but this was only about £30 for the night)

The ferry to Northern Spain costs something like £400-£600, depending on season.

Figures may be off as it was a few years ago we did it in the sprinter.
