Is she happy with her Lid ? If so let her keep it and spend the money on petrol :D

I've never liked it when I've seen rider and pillion with the same helmet. I just think it looks wrong.

its up to Mandy really I would think.

So why not take her shopping and get her a new lid, but let her choose the one she likes the design of.

I once joked to Liz that we should get the same lid. I'm unable to quote her reply on the forum as it would break the U rating

matching helmets.....nooooooooooo!!

like Fizz says let her go choose her own design, if your not happy with the safety of her current one.
Your not allowed to choose one like mine though*, theres nobody got one like it on the org yet, I had to change the other one as it was getting a bit common amongst the laydeez ;-) (but only cause me head bashed the floor in it:-( )

edit...*she can really :-)

Hmm a no from me too, but then I don't like his and hers stuff lol. Our theme owt black, that's it.

If Mandy likes the look of it then go for it! I like to be different though, am looking forward to getting a brand spanking new lid when I get some dosh :-D

P.S. if someone edits that last sentence then the .org is officially predictable :p

Vixis and I both had those Cabergs.

I found mine got very loose very fast so traded up to a Shoei and gave the Caberg to Jester666.

Vixis is still using her Caberg, but we plan to replace it soonish with something a bit better.

But she will pick what works best for her.

Actually the Caberg Trip was one of the 1st lids to be tested as both open and closed.

Closed its as good as any other closed faced lid for chin protection.

My only issue is with the fit.

My only issue is with the fit.

I had the same Issues with the Caberg that Liz had. It went from being an OK fit to a terrible fit very quickly. It got so bad that I could hold the chin bar and she could turn her head right round inside it. I replaced it with a Shoei and thats lasted 3 years and still fits as good as it did when we bought it...

Quiff Wichard
23-02-09, 02:57 PM

I had one of those caberg trips, it was cheap and the only thing I could get at the time and I had to be in wales... after I foolishly broke my caberg V2 in half. Very draughty and steams up worse than any other lid I've tried.

The XR1000 I replaced it with is worlds different... it's like a cuddle for my brain...

Quiff put your foot down & insist Mandy wears a matching lid to you. Makes her look part of the ensemble, not just an after thought.
If your lid is good enough then buy a matching one as you have found, if not buy 2 new matching ones.

Incorrect. It's only as good as the lowest level needed to pass the ECER22-05 testing for chinbars.

There are far far better and more protective helmet chinbars out there. I've seen AGVs, Suomys, HJCs and others where the chinbar has been completely ripped off the helmet in a real life road accident, not testing. The worst I ever saw done to a decent quality helmet like an Arai or Shoei was one side of the chinbar being badly enough deformed to make it wobbly and floppy, but it was still attached to the main shell.

So keep buying a sh1te quality helmet that costs 120 quid each year to replace, and don't think that the £250 helmet you could have bought will last 5 years.

Buying cheap helmets is false economy.

Have you tried matching Crocs yet, Dave?
With helmets, comfortable fit & safety are all that matter - appearance, 'togetherness' etc may be nice but not enough to risk anything.

I already have another one - the same- so i have 2.. but I went a size down cos mine had gone a lil loose- so we Do have the option of Mand having the new smaller one and me reverting to the old one- then we would be same same ... but mefinks I wont do it now.. she likes her helmet anyway- but she hasnt tried out many helmets I try and encourage her to play around and try a few different ones out..

Oooo the go ahead to try it from the other half.. If i were you i'd go to HG and have a look at a few helmets and see what takes your fancy.. I know you got 2 already but if you wana go matching i think you should both have a say in what you wear!!

sad eh !!

like I said- I got a new helmet purely cos i am an OCD freak and had a couple of scratches on mine but it then begged the question. should we match..

or now i think maybe mand needs the same helmet as me but in black!.. as her leathers are mainly white.

Wow Quiff, liking the wire stand things for your gear haha

The good thing about having two white lids is you'll be more easily seen I guess, although black lids are supposed to be better in different conditions...

Take Mandy helmet shopping and see what you find. My KBC lid was bought in the Isle of Man and I was told by my favourite CBT instructor ( ) that it didn't reach European safety standards or something similar, so I'm using that as an excuse to find a nice one :)

I had one of those caberg trips, it was cheap and the only thing I could get at the time and I had to be in wales
