Not how it works mate. Monthly pay, you get paid for the month you have just worked. So end of March you should get one months money (maybe an extra week depending when the pay date is set)

Well you knew it was coming, surely you saved a bit to cover the interim?

Yes and at the end of March you will be paid for the time worked in February (4 days) and the time worked in March (up to the pay day). This is how it works with ALL the companies I have ever worked for and I have been monthly paid for 25 years.
EDIT: I have never had to work a 'month in hand' like folks seem to have to 'work a week in hand' on weekly pay.
Adjusting from weekly to monthly pay can be painful, yes. But I find it's better on monthly pay.
I get paid early in the month, and all my bills/direct debits go out within a few days of my pay coming in. Anything left is money I know I can spend on whatever I choose.

Hmm depends. It could be two things (that I can think of)
The 15th is the pay date. So when you get paid, you will be paid up to the 15th.
The 15th is the cutoff day for processing timesheets / overtime in order to be in the payroll for that month. i.e. any overtime worked up to 15th of March will be in the March payroll along with your basic pay for the whole of March.
I tend to think the second option above is most likely, but without seeing your terms and conditions cannot say for sure. Sounds like HR are doing a very poor job on this. What does the union rep say?

Did you not get told/ask aboutthe revised pay system when you applied for the new job? I'm kind of assuming this is a promotion you've got...

I can't see how you'd only get paid for four days at the end of March? My understanding of the monthly pay system ( or at least the way it works for me) is that at the end of March you'll get paid a full month's basic salary, (for March) and then at the end of April you get another full month's basic salary plus any unsocial hours or overtime done in March.
The cut off date (15th) that you've been given is to process payment for overtime/unsocial hours.
At least this is how it works for me and all other monthly paid people I know.

we have a cut off of the 15th. Its the last day for getting any stuff they need to process in. Then we get paid on the 21st. They are supposed to have a second run( for the stuff they may have guffed up in the first place which they usually do)and pay again on the 28th but they rarely do it for you and you have to wait til the month after....the only reason for waiting is because they give you some BS excuse for not being bothered to help you!

That's only for overtimer/bonus/etc though I presume Dizzy - you will still get paid your basic in month; ie 21st Feb is pay for work in Feb.

We work a fortnight in arrears, a fortnight in advance, so the only thing people wait for is their overtime as it lacks a month behind.
Senior execs at my co get paid quarterly. that way there are only a few paid directly out of head office and only the one person who authorise their salary transfer to thier bermuda banks knows what they are earning

ive been doing the job for 12 months but its always been an allowance ontop of my basic pay weekly, its only now that my position is more permenant so this is how the monthly came about.

Just wait till they privatise it and they pay you what they feel like when they feel like it.

You could always get a weekend job cleaning bikes to get you through the month :)

63 weeks pay at the moment  ? you get 1 week for every year you have been there I think (Statutory) have you been there 63 years? :p you didnt look half that last time I met you lol
63 x 330 (the statutory amount) = £20k+
As for being paid monthly instead of weekly :o I didnt realise Royal Mail was still in the dark ages.....I assumed everyone was paid monthly nowdays, that is a complete bugger of a situation they are putting you in though.

20 years - you would get an enhancement . plus your statutory..
a friend of minewith 3o years at bentley has just walked away with 57K redundancy...
Kwak.. go in to Hr and ask them to explain it properly to you- it IS confusing especially the "cusp" month at changeover.
mate you have a family and kids you need toknow your cash flow is going to balance with your income exceeding your outgoings and they have a duty to explain it to you properly..
I will hazard a guess you have misunderstood it.. they wouldnt leave you with no pay mate..

For now, the post office is still paying well above the odds for a redundance, what it will be like in a few years once the gvmt set private industry loose on it will be an awful lot less!
