View Full Version : What comes with a new Hagon Shock?

TheStudent

Just come to fit the shock, all I have is the actual shock itself, no new nuts or bolts, and the fork end of the shock, unlike the standard, has a larger hole at one end, do I need some kind of washer here?

Thanks

All you should have in the box, is the shock, the shock spanner and an allen key.

take a picture of it..I know this may sound daft, but I ordered one from wemoto a couple of yrs back, and it was the wrong shock in the right box.
If you take a pic of it, I'll tell you if its right. It should look exactly the same as your standard shock, just red

I fitted DB's shock.

The stock bolt was a snug fit in one side of the bottom fork and threaded into the other side.

Once they had sent the correct model out that is.

Paid £175 off eBay 14th Dec 08, looks like I've been had. Couldn't fit it then because I had surgery on my shoulder. Damn it! :(

But with the larger hole, the bolt doesn't hold one side of the shock?

My paypal dispute...

The shock is advertised as fitting SV650 motorbikes from 1998-2002, however the shock i have received is model 63056, which if you refer to the hagon website, only fits the year 1999, hence not a 2002 bike like mine. So as the item has been falsely advertised, and is the wrong model, I wish to return it for a full £175 refund. The reason for the time it has taken me to open this dispute, unfortunately I had shoulder surgery, so have only just got round to checking it.

More than 45 days after payment, dispute unallowed, screwed. :(

According to the Hagon site they are?

Unless this is the right shock and I am missing a bolt with a thick head to fit thick section of the shock?

dizzyblonde

you don't get any bolts with a hagon shock.

M63056 rings a bell. It went on mine, Mine is a 2001. Just double checking wemoto too.

edit,,,wemoto doesn't have part number

Why can't you make a small spacer to fit in the larger hole?

maybe the earlier bold would fit from your local dealer.

You can't give up yet :)

Where is the bolt going to screw into? Stocker has the bottom of the fork threaded.

As far as I know, the 99>02 fitment is the same throughout. The 99 that I had was exactly the same in the linkages as my K1.

well you just shoved an 02 stock shock on my 2000 curvy. Both the same as my 2001 too. I got both old shocks here I'm going to take a peek

Mine is a 2001 and it doesn't fit?

The bolt won't hold it as one end is too large and neither ends have a thread for the end of the bolt to screw into.

I'm rather confused.

Another website says...

SV 650 / S 99-00 63056
SV 650 01> 63066

Ask hagon? Maybe they send you a shouldered bolt and nut out with the early one?

Personally I'd just stick a ZX6r shock in there instead.

right I've looked at 2 shocks under the kitchen sink.
My old 2000 shock and my old 2001 shock. Both are the same, both have one side threaded. I have recently fitted a stock shock on my 2000 bike from a 2002 bike. SO I would assume that all curvies have the same shock.

I am pretty certain that the one ordered from Hagon that I have is M36056, reason being is that on the website it also states part of a number JS1AV (which if memory serves me correct i'll find is part of the frame number of my 2001 curvy)
I am rather confused as the shock you have looks right but as stated there is no thread on one side, and you also state that the number they gave you is the right part number....me thinks somebody has been telling you porkies or something....

The way this is going is that it's the 99 shocks that are different so your kitchen sink jobbies would be the same. That's not the number they gave me, it's on the actual shock.

Anyone got a 99 curvy they could look at?

yorkie_chris

Parts fiche on ronayers site does not show a nut on the shock on a 99 model. The 2000>2002 fiches are the same also.

I think hagon have got it wrong tbh. And you've been had.

Yes I had one, and totally stripped it to service all the rear end bearings before I sold it. It was exactly the same as my K1.

Are you sure it's not been modded, i.e. the hole has been opened up?

Correct. All Curvy shock fitments are the same. If your new one doesn't fit, then it's either the wrong shock, or, (but I can't imagine what), something on your bike has been changed.

Maybe Hagon could change the end for you?
Their service is usually great, they overhauled my shock and returned it in 4 days.

Took my Hagon shock off today and it isn't the same as your EBAY purchase

Here's what your Hagon should have.
3371

I had a similar problem when I bought a GSXR1000 shock on EBAY, which didn't have the threaded eye in the shock mount. But that was my error.

Hagon should be able to swap the mounts over

TheStudent
26-02-09, 01:02 PM
And now it all makes sense, the eye is missing, how can I get one of them? Hagon... will email now...

Looks like its plopped out somewhere

Maybe Hagon will have to press a new one in for your, then you'll have the shock you want, which will be a result.\\:D/

I should imagine Hagon will be more than helpful. Knew the part number were right. And there you go, ALLLLLLL curvies use the same shock ;-)

How much did it cost? When you say overhaul...?

I asked at their stand at the NEC and an overhaul is £150, and then carries a new warranty.

Are i see it's a threaded insert. Hagon will probably supply a new one.

TheStudent
26-02-09, 03:37 PM
Hagon...

Thanks for the photo's, you are indeed missing the threaded insert in the lower fork. We can refit one at the time of your shock service if you require. The cost to rebuild your Hagon Monoshock is £99.50 including vat.

We replace everything except shock body, rod end and spring. Bronze bushes are replaced if necessary.Your rebuilt Hagon Monoshock has a 2 year guarantee Return p&p £8.00 for UK and £20.00 for Northern Ireland.

Current turnaround time 2-3 working days.

We can send the insert to you, cost will be £6.00 inc postage.

We also can dispatch a progressive fork spring kit at the same time, price for this is £67.50 including the fork oil.

Just supply your delivery address & payment details.

I personally know nothing of the shocks history/age, it does have some chips in the spring paint, that's about it. Do you guys think I should get it serviced or just have the part sent out? ...or have the part sent out, use it for a bit, then decide about servicing? I don't know how often you are supposed to get them serviced.

This thread makes me look so useless lol.

dizzyblonde
26-02-09, 04:34 PM
personally I'd just have them send you the new insert for now. Think about it logically, you paid £175 for the shock, if you send it to be serviced at 99 +vat, then you may as well have bought a brand new one for £275.
Do you still have an email or something with the original info page from ebay for it? might say on there how many miles it was. Or indeed email the seller, ask them how many it had on

Use it for a while, make your own assumptions as to how good/bad it compares to your old stock shock. Then have it serviced. I know nothing about how often you should service a rebuildable one. But thanks for posting the info, as it will be useful in the far off future(mines brand spankin)

Ordered the part, some springs, adjustment bits, £77. Sorted.

Thanks for everyones help.

dizzyblonde
01-03-09, 09:45 AM
good stuff. did you buy a set of progressive springs from them?
You'll not go far wrong with the full gear on your SV (if the rear shock ends up being a good un) I found having the full lot on all at once was an absolute dream compared to the old pogo stick and teeth chatterer...lol

TheStudent
01-03-09, 03:05 PM
Certainly did :)

Waiting on those bits and some goodridge braided brake lines now, wish it was already done, such a nice day!!

So it'll be...

Oil (&F)
Air Filter
Plugs
Coolant
Brake Lines and Fluid
Hagon Front and Rear Suspension
...gonna be like a new bike hopefully! Should keep the temptation of a gixer 750 at bay for a while!
